2015 Tesla Model S P85D
-We’ve known for a little while now that Tesla would show off its upcoming Model 3 sedan on March 31st and that it would begin taking $1000 reservations for the car at that time. Now, Tesla has more details on how you can reserve one, and who gets priority.

-

In a blog post, Tesla confirmed again that reservations will begin worldwide on March 31st. The post also included a link to explain how much a reservation will cost in markets outside the U.S., which you can check out here.

-

If you absolutely want the earliest reservation you can get, Tesla stores will begin accepting in-person reservations from the moment they open on March 31st. Online reservations at Tesla.com begin at 8:30 PM Pacific Time on March 31st. Regardless of whether you reserve in person or online, priority will be given to current Tesla owners. Each region will have its own waiting list.

-

When production begins—right now it’s slated for late 2017—deliveries in the U.S. will start on the West Coast and move east.

There’s still a significant chance the Model 3 will be delayed, like every other Tesla launch, but for now we’re looking forward to actually driving the thing at its debut on March 31.

I was stopped at a light next to a Tesla a couple of days ago ... while driving my V8 Olds Custom Cruiser. I blipped the loud pedal a few times, making the fender rise up under torque (and a pretty sweet noise too).  He just sat there with an embarrassed look on his face.
