Acadians & Beaumonts featured at 2015 Sloan Auto Fair-Flint MI

Recommended Posts

This weekend was the annual Sloan Museum Auto Fair in Flint, MI. The weather was damp, spotty rain, and generally was keeping a lot of cars away from the show. A lot of the swap meet vendors covered up their wares and went home early too. Too bad because this year's theme was featuring some "international muscle cars". In this case, international meant Canadian-built muscle cars. I have known about Laurentians, Parisiennes, Acadians, and Beaumonts for years. I have seen my share of them. However, I had not seen so many Acadians and Beaumonts in one place before. Enjoy.

Although not a Pontiac, this car was built for Canada. Its a rare example with only kilometers on the speedometer.

Love the Sloan.  That's where I met 1/2 of the engineering staff for the V6 back in the day.  Came back to the car to find this group standing around with wet spots in their pants over the blown V6. They proved extremely helpful in solving some of my problems on an engine that's still in the car today.

Not too surprising since Flint was home to Buick Motor Division and the V6 Engineering center for decades. So it would be natural for the Buick/V6 boys to take an interest in your ride. Was one of them named Denny Manner per chance? Denny was the Malcom McKeller equivalent for Buick engines. He developed the torquey Buick V8 engines and developed the Indy V6 race and pace car engines.

Denny isn't ringing any bells.

Great pictures Frosty... we never see Acadians or Beaumonts here so thank you for posting these! I like the yellow '67 with the Rally I wheels, makes it look a bit more Pontiac than chevy.

Thanks stratman....thanks Ghosty....

The pictures don't do the cars justice....particularly the white/blue SD-396 because the day was soooo gloomy and rainy. It would be a stunning car in the sunshine.

I had never seen an Acadian station wagon before either. Of course I've seen my share of Nova/Chevy II wagons, just not the Acadian variants.
