"Smokey and the Bandit" endures as one of the great popcorn flicks thanks in large part to the charisma of Burt Reynolds behind the wheel of a black Pontiac Trans Am. In real life, Reynolds kept the Bandit spirit alive by driving this 1978 Trans Am, complete with "BANDT22" license plates, embroidered headrests and CB radio, albeit about 30 years after "Bandit" came out. Mecum Auctions will sell the car this January.

Burt's famous red jacket from the movie will also be sold at auction in Last Vegas on December 11 & 12.

It appears he is both broke and it is time for him to downsize too. He needs to the money to keep his home in Jupiter Florida it seems.

The selling price of Burt's Bandit T/A went way beyond the auction company's estimate...

Indeed - probably the most valuable 2nd-gen Trans Am on the planet.....$450,000.00

His Bandit jacket sold for $34,375 and a license plate sold for $5,937. Quite an impressive all for Burt as well as the Smokey and the Bandit collectors.
