The purpose of our community is to keep alive the Pontiac spirit by sharing (or showing off) our cars, discussing Pontiac, helping each other work on our cars and find information, plus attend various meets/shows/etc... To aid discussion, sharing, event planning and selling of parts/cars/anything, we have various parts of the website to aid this from Forums to an online Garage to Classifieds to even a Document Download Repository. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed <em>Auto Extremist</em> has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/general motors/">General Motors</a> executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/">Chevrolet</a> to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/corvette racing/">Corvette Racing</a> program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/">Porsche</a> something to sweat over.<br /><br />Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. What Bullshit is this? Thats like making a Pontiac GTO not a Pontiac. A Corvette isn't a Corvette if its not Chevy. What went through this retards head when he came up with this? GM would never split an iconic car from their flagship brand to make a new brand, especially after they had to cut brands in recent years.

Agreed, this is the worst thing you could do ever, marketing and financial wise. As an auto enthusiast I would love to see more cars like the Corvette but you need a market for it to make a whole brand of it's own or it's going to flop tremendously on it's face. Sounds like this guy thought Chrysler's SVT brand or whatever was a good idea :picard:
