Charleston WV Rod Run and Doo Wop

The 6th annual Charleston WV Rod Run and Doo Wop car show will be held October 3-7, 2012 in downtown Charleston WV on the levy. This year will be my fourth year attending. It is attracts 1000+ cars. There are concerts at the River Amphitheater Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There are fireworks after the concert on Saturday night that are not to be missed. There are trivia questions and give aways all weekend long.

Last year I won the Hot Rod Grill and all the accessories in one of the raffles.

Cruising historic Route 60 (the Route 66 of the east), checking out Hawk's Nest and Babcock State Parks, or the New River Gorge bridge are just an hour away.

So check out their website and see how many times you can find my Lemans in the highlights section.

I'd love to meet up with any Forever Pontiac members who show up.

Tough decision for you.....car show extraordinaire or huntin' Bambi. Hmmmm......staying in a nice comfortable hotel, nearby casino, lots of chrome, car guys, custom paint, swap meet, free concert music, fireworks, and food versus camping, sitting in a tree blind, freezing you butt off, drinking Yukon Jack whiskey to keep warm, wearing camo and doe scent, and eating pork rinds and baked beans. I know where I'll be.

Of course I understand the need to be tree....I think that was a Monkees song or something like that - but then again, I have this tendency to date myself.

Gotta go with the flow..this is MICH YO! Tree'd is where its @. Had my fill of blaring 50's carshow tunes, fustration with the cars. It time to be quiet, put the boat away N enjoy the fall weather, changing colors and watching the forest critters at my cabin/ 21A of "quiet" heaven. It's a time to reflect on the years ups N downs. Friends N family that have moved on. Fall cleaning for the brain. Time to split some wood N stack for this winters snowmobile trips. If a big Buck happens my way, JUSTA makes the memorie's of this deercamp that much better. Move over tates N beans.....FRESH meat cooked on the open campfire N the beer doesn't taste this good any other time of year.

Finally figure out my carb! The venturies bolt in and seem to have loosened up. Lifting the whole plate enough to be puking the gas. As it bolts in seperate I had no need to check the screws. WRONG..LOL. Washer/lockwasher should solve my prob's. Been running well with no gas leaks in the driveway. Hope to hit tomorrows cruise nite, and finish the season @ Gollings this Sat. Have to tearoff N reroof my daughters garage before the end of the month too. :bump:

Heretic ! Car season is a year round thing ! It never leaves you - it is a 24 x 7 x 365 commitment (when the wife ain't around).

While I understand putting the cars away for winter for insurance and preservation purposes, does not stop the need to go look at chrome, go to car shows, swap meets, Autorama, etc.

No doubt about that. Time to figure out paint/ body N start takin it apart again! In my spare time, which isn't much once Huntin season starts. Gonna miss my huntin buddy this year.

Thanks Ringo. I had a great time as always. I got to see a lot of people I knew, but others were out of town too. The fireworks were spectacular as always. The New River Gorge Bridge and Fayette Station Bridge was great with the fall colors just starting to come out. The weather was good through Friday, sunny in the high 70s and low 80s. Saturday morning was bad, the rain moved in until noon and the temperature dropped 20 plus degrees and it stayed cold the rest of the weekend. The West Virginia - Texas game plus the cold weather took a lot of people off the street this year for the last concert if the show by the Diamonds (famous for "Lil Darlin'"). I didn't win anything this year, which was too bad. I was really trying for the engine/tranny combo or the '86 Chevy P/U Scottsdale.

BTW - Bridge Day is October 20th this year - in case anyone wants to parachute off the bridge. I hear they are adding a catapult launch this year.

The Lemans ran great there and back again. Kids just love the tigers I put on the back of the car. The only issue I had was sap and leaves. The leaves were coming down all weekend on the levy. So I was constantly get leaves out of the interior. The tree sap was a tad annoying too put I managed to keep up with that.

I have a new problem now which I will blog about in the Off Topic section. Suffice it to say it's a doosey.
