Its been 18 years since Chevy offered a five- (or six-) passenger, rear-wheel-drive sedan and its been 44 since it offered one with serious muscle under the hood. Well, that drought has come to an end, thanks to the Chevrolet SS, an American muscle car with an Australian accent.

The last Chevy RWD sedan was the Caprice and Impala SS. The Chevy SS is the re-designed and re-badge Pontiac G8 GXP with the LS3. It is competing against the Charger SRT8. Right now, no other versions of the Chevy SS are planned for sale in the U.S. that compares to the base V6 powered G8 or v8-powered G8 GT. Expect starting prices to be north of $42,000.

Looks like a re-issue of the original 1969 press release photo of the original Firebird Trans Am from Riverside International Raceway. The Judge and Trans Am were both introduced at the same press event. RIR is now gone and a shopping mall, houses, and a Lowes now stand were the track once was.

Ah, the Irish Eyes 70 GTO Resto-Mod. Got to see this one up close at this year's Detroit Autorama. Here are my photos of this car. I'm not a fan of the wheels. I think something a bit more stylish could have been done here.

The Art Of Taking Away

2014-chevy-corvette-front-end-render.jpg

Summing up the significance of the sensational new Stingray doesn't come easy. Clichés such as "evolutionary" or even "transformational" just don't cut it. They can't convey the scope and depth of the design and engineering efforts expended on its behalf. We won't go so far as to overstate the seventh-gen Corvette as "revolutionary" or a "paradigm shift." After all, it still follows the familiar formula of a bellicose V-8 up front putting its prodigious power to the rear wheels. It's the same configuration we've come to know and love—only more so, emphatically.
