This working thing sucks for a living.

Tell me about it....been there, done that, got the T-shirt. At least my current job is interesting (for now). The commute sucks but that is the price of infamy. I like my surroundings at least.

I like the new job just not living in a hotel for the next two weeks. I should have brought my Holley carb up to restore in the hotel.

Done in the hotel and man did I get sick and tired of restaurants. Next time I am bringing a Coleman stove.

No pictures but progress but maybe in the next couple days.

Floor pans are mocked fully in and I forgot to buy more CO/Argon for the welder.

Got a used motor that I am going to open up and see what it is. Thus far I have found that it is a 4 bolt main out of a 1987 Silverado pickup. It is a a TBI motor it should be a roller camshaft engine. I will not know until I take the intake off. Fortunately there are enough parts on the front of it to save me a couple hundred bucks in core charges.

transmission.jpg

T-5 from a Camaro,

The good

$300.00 for transmission, clutch and new flywheel

Overdrive gear

Mechanical Speedo

The bad

Gotta keep the motor under 350 hp otherwise the transmission may not hold up over the long haul

Ah, the ol' T-5s from the V6 F-bodies. Yup, 350HP is their limit.

Actually it is a V8 car transmission. Hard to find but with all of the guys going T56 these days I cannot find a used one around here for under $2000 so a T5 is almost as good but twice as affordable.

This weekend will be finish welding the quarter make and get some fitment issues taken car of. Aftermarket quarters are good but need some tweeking.

Spin the car around in the shop then start on the left.

They looked like crap. Good heat penetration on the steel but a lot of work to make them look good. Now they are flatter with a lot less work.

Those look like 3rd gen IROC - Z-28 wheels to me. Am I close? The quarter panel look great bud. Did you get a quantity discount on the all the vice grip clamps at Lowe's?

Yes they are the third gen Iroc wheels. They have the same backspacing as the rest and fit really nice with the wheel wells. As for the clamps have you ever bought something over and over again because you thought that you only had a couple of them.

Hmmmm....obsessive compulsive disorder? Dementia? Or just a car guy thinking he doesn't have enough tools?

Well in that picture is less then 1/3 of what I actually have. Could be a combination of all three.
