of the Month

  • Welcome to Forever Pontiac

We are a community of Pontiac enthusiasts. The purpose of our community is to keep alive the Pontiac spirit by sharing (or showing off) our cars, discussing Pontiac, helping each other work on our cars and find information, plus attend various meets/shows/etc... To aid discussion, sharing, event planning and selling of parts/cars/anything, we have various parts of the website to aid this from Forums to an online Garage to Classifieds to even a Document Download Repository. You can find links to these in our navigation above based on what each section helps with (discussion, local events, learning, etc...).

We invite you to contribute, find help or just view some of our member's amazing cars! Don't forget, we also have great contests from time to time (like our Pontiac of the Month and yearly calendar contest) and our Pontiac This OR That, a fun game where you choose the best of two randomly selected Pontiacs from our online garage.

We look forward to seeing you around!

The GA floated a valve... AGAIN...

Question

Yep. Driving home from work, just crusing speed, all of a sudden a studder and occasional clacking noise, SES light starts to flash. I was able to limp the car eight miles to AMG Service where the tech (and good friend) I know and trust to do heavy work on the car. Sure enough, to my suspisions, it is another floated valve. Worst case scenario, I'll need a new head on the rear bank. I'll know by tomorrow what the damage is.

<_<

Seems like a bad day for cars, our Venture just ate a power steering pump and spit out the tightner (right name? it's late I'm going to bed :welcomeFP: ). Interesting day to say the least

Repairs will be under $350, mainly because of my connections.

HOWEVER, if the engine pulls some shit like this again, I will sell it.

Replacements for the GA I had in mind:

05-07 Dodge Charger SRT-8/ 07-09 Dodge Charger R/T

08-09 Pontiac G8GT

04-05 Subaru Impreza STi

01-04 Lexus IS300

'10 Hyundai Sonata Turbo/Kia Optima Turbo

04-06 Acura TL Type S

08-10 Chevy Malibu LTZ 3.6L

05-08 VW MKV Jetta GLI

Well, I hope the GA stays, but I'd also approve of either the G8GT, TL-S, or GLI. They'd make the top of my list.

Good about the repairs but that list is weird lol, you have some cars on there I could never see you drive Chris. Like the Hyundai/Kia and the VW, I know you've been boasting about Kia's but I still don't ever see you in one.

The list I would go with is:

G8 GT

Charger SRT-8

Malibu

Charger R/T

then I wouldn't touch the other cars with a 10 foot pole :(

That sucks, but I can totally see you go Euro. Wouldn't surprise me at all. lol

Though I wish I could afford a G8 GT, they are still close to $28k out here in Cali! :(

Yeah, I've always dug Euros, mainly Bimmers. I'd love to have an E36 for a project.

But the MKV Jettas appeal to me as well.

Just sucks, damn GA better not piss me off again, and I spoil the bloody car, too. :(

In the meantime, I've been driving the g/f's Galant. Not a bad little bugger, I could live with it as a DD...after me modding it of course. :( Herro coilovers...

That sucks it broke down again. Out of that list I would pick the Malibu simply because it is a really nice car that isn't all that expensive. I love the two tone brown and cashmere interiors that some of them have. Ideally I would get the STi but being a realist, you aren't going to get a good one for a decent price.

Finding an unmolested STi is almost impossible. And for a good price? I seemed to lose all hope when I went searching. ;)

Malibu LTZs would be the only trim I'd want, no Ecotec either.

I've been seeing a few granny owned 1st gen Lexus IS300s for under $6-$7K...

The only older luxury cars I like are the bmw's. The newer Benz are awesome but still really expensive. Trust me I had searched for a good Evo or STi at the auction for about 2 years with either been beaten to death and or really expensive. The last evo was a 03 Evo 73k with a in-op engine still went for 10,300. There is a 08 WRX hatch 20k right now there, but it has a utah salvage title and the engine is in-op they want 9,500 which is not bad but still doesn't run at all.

The 1st gen IS300's had the 2JZ-GE on a fairly light chassis.

Yeah they can be fast and what not, bmw's just have my favorite overall package. My E46 isn't fast at all but I enjoy the car alot, it handles and drives amazing for a car with 98k on it.
