Very cool, what was there stock (in place of the "lowering link")? Just a bar I assume.

Anyway agree with Joe, watch out on the camber but it looks good. Leveling out the back will improve it's looks too.

Yeah, it was just a flat bar with the 2 little cups on the ends to grab the little ball joints. I'm lowering the rear more today, then I'll have the alignment done and I'll be done!

lol I guess so... Well, I couldn't get the rear lower because the stock link is above the rear diff SO, I'm enlacing the help of other W211 owners to help me out. Just waiting on a response now.

I can't say I've seen this method of lowering a car before. How long before we can simply adjust it via a menu in the in-car computer?

Looks really good though.

  • 1 month later...

So, it's been a little bit since I've updated this... I bought new wheels a couple weeks ago. Buying the new 19" wheels made me have to raise the car back up. It's back at stock height until I decide what I want to do for the height.

I'm looking at coil-overs right now to completely get rid of the Air-Matic Suspension. It's becoming a PITA and I don't want to have to replace one in the future... They are pretty pricey, plus coil-overs are MUCH cheaper to maintain!

Fronts: 19x8 Carlsson 2/6 "Ultrabrilliants" with 235/35s (Soon to be 245/40 when I have money to get new tires.)

Rears: 19x9.5 Carlsson 2/6's with 255/40s

Here are some pics:

I just replaced the center caps with black ones, I just haven't taken pics yet...

cool. why did you go back to stock? rubbing issues? and how much HP does it make?

Because they would have rubbed like hell if I left it slammed in the front like I had it. Still stock so: 339 ft-lbs and 302 hp.

Not a fan of the new rims :agreed: Then again I'm really picky about them and why I haven't changed mine

That's fine, I'm not here to please you. haha

To me it looks like you have two diff kinds of rims on the car. Deep dish on the rear and the front ones stick out. Just does not look right to me :agreed:

and YES you are here to please ME! so get cracken and fix it BOY!

They are 2 different wheels. Haha that's why it looks like that. The fronts have a lip too, it's just that the face of the wheels sticks out more. I suppose I can't be too picky. These wheels are worth over $1600 each. I paid $350 for all 4, that's one hell of a hook up.

I personally would try and sell them for the $1600 each rather than have them on my car :agreed:

is that to the wheels?

:agreed: no. I'm not worried about power too much anymore. It's nice to have when you need it but, I do much more cruising now, instead of speeding around all the time.

I love the new wheels, they look dope. Definitely gives the E500 a more aggressive look, and there's a lot more adjustment freedom with a good set of coilovers, most usually have ride height, camber and toe adjusters. Add that with a good looking exhaust setup out back, and the Merc will really have a mild AMG look to it. I'd tint the tails (50/50) as well.
