Looking for a 1st job..

So lets start from the beginning...in 2006 i moved here with my family from England at the age of 13. Four and a half long years later, today, I finally get y Social Security Number. I am now on the search for a first job.

I really dont know where to start when it comes to where I should apply so im looking for any suggestions at all. Should I go into retail or restaurants? The tricky thing is that I am not 18 yet and a lot of jobs set 18 as the bottom limit.

I thought about maybe running cars to customers for Enterprise or Hertz, but once again, the age is 18. All ideas are welcome. Thanks

-Adam

What I said on G6P :lol2:

I personally stayed away from the food industry because I never wanted to mess with people and their food, people can get real bitchy with it but if you get a good restaurant tips can be good. My first "official" job (I owned a server hosting company with my cousin for a while before Circuit City) was retail with Circuit City, selling computers and working for Firedog (Circuit City's version of Geek Squad).

Working retail sucks but its good money, I got paid $9.50/hr. Try a Best Buy if you like electronics or apply to Advanced Auto or like places. Might try dealers, it's winter but you're in Cali so they'll definitely need to wash cars and etc...

Try Valet Parking at Casinos, Restaurants, Theaters, Stadiums, etc.

Being hired as a valet can be hard because they can be picky about how old you are, usually they want 18+ even sometimes 20+. Worth a try though, can explain how much you like cars, etc...

I need a job. I just don't want a job like a cashier or something like that were i have to deal with people. I'm looking at working a tobacco field for a summer job. Or i can just scan business cards under the table for my dads company like i normally do haha.

Look into re-stocking shelves at any store, decent money and you don't have to deal with customers :woot: and you'll be in air conditioning instead of the fields

Whoa, never knew Adam was a Brit. You have the accent?

Now, try looking for a job at Autozone, Advanced Auto, Home Depot, Lowe's, or Sears Auto Center. They're all corporate run jobs, but they'll hire anyone, and job security is rather good. Benefits, meh...
