I have a 1969 custom S convertible that has thi engine in it with a four barrel carb and four speed on floor. Has 45,000 miles on it. New cap, rotor, coil and wires. Wires are cheap looking packard. Car is hard starting and idles rough. Card is new as well. Could cheap wires cause this. Sounded good last night, but today it does not. Cant figure out how to time this either. Lol

Hey John Welcome to the board. Need a little more to go on. Was everything good before the new parts or is the first time she has run in a while?

My first thought is a fuel issue. However the simplest control test would be to check the plugs, wires & points.

If you have another set of wires, then yes that would be the easiest thing to check first.

Cheers

Jeff

As far as Timing, the timing mark positions changed in '69 attachment below shows the 3 aliment/positions for them.

If you don't have a '69 Service manual you should get one it will make life a little easier.

Cheers
