JUSTA so you know, the 57-64 Olds/Pontiac rear diff was very popular with the early drag racers.

I run a 12-bolt in Lucy. It has 3.55 gears. I think it is a good compromise gear between highway and city.

I am not surprised mate!! this diff is soo bloody big, its got to be pretty bullet proof

In '63, when Pontiac built the 14 Super Duty Tempest/Lemans just before GM's ban on racing was announced. Those cars came with the shiftable rear diffs. A lot of the racer took those diffs out and swapped them for the 57-64 diffs. Even the guys who raced the stock Tempests/Lemans would swap out that rear end for the more bullet proof 57-64 rear end. So much so, that Pontiac issued a new part number for this diff to it would be homologated under NHRA rules of being a "factory" diff.

no work tomorrow as Bathurst is on 👍

last year for Holden and they are off too the history books like Pontiac 😪

next years it’s all camaro’s

It's amazing how in just over a decade how much GM has contracted Kiwi.

In 2004, Oldsmobile became an orphan.

In 2010, GM said adios to Hummer, Saab, Saturn, and Pontiac.

In 2017, GM sells Opel and Vauxhall to Peugeot.

10-20-2017, the last Holden was produced, and by 2021, it will cease as a brand altogether.

GM of Argentina was shutdown for over a year due to the economic situation there.

GM has also threatened to shutdown GM Korea if they didn't get wage concessions 2 years ago and right now remains tentatively profitable.

GM has shutdown operations in India, Russia, and Africa.

So GM is no longer trying to be the world's largest automaker. They are trying to be one of the most profitable one or perhaps more importantly, they want to transform themselves into a modern profitable "transportation" company with the major investments into electric / zero-emissions technology.

When i got the chassis and A arms sand blasted / epoxy coated they covered everything! including the holes where the bushes press into....

 my fault, i should have told them to mask, barrier these off, i didn't 🙄 

so i have had to sand/ dremil off the coating on the inner sections of all 8 bushings... NOTE TO ANYONE READING THIS IN THE FUTURE, HAVE THE BUSHING HOLES MASKED/BARRIER Off👍

And the epoxy coating is really hard!!, i am super impressed

These cars are not just built as a means of transport, they are a creation/art/statement/ that has evolved from the very first automobile.

what we are doing here is protecting/ preserving the legacy,  and for me,;.... i am so proud to own a Pontiac.

If it wasn't for people like you and me, there would not be an aftermarket,   for car parts and restoration parts way past what gm ever imagined!!!!!

i know for a fact that down here in new zealand, the government has acknowledged. that the american car fraternity, is extremely  strong and growing every day.. 

so we , have plenty of allowance for our usa babies.

But dont be fooled! its a constant battle to be allowed to have usa car here, my hell cat... was one of 500 that was allowed into the country for that year!🙄

More early Xmas presents arrived from rock auto today 

sway bar bushes. And connector bolts and bushings 

a new intake gasket for my 313 poly in the 59 

and sump gasket set for the 389 

and what a bargain !!! $5.50 usd for each gasket set 👍👍👍👍👍👍

i do note!!! that the boarder  cops had opened  the box with the tube of silicon in it Hahaha 👍good on you nz customs....

 how i could tell you ask ??? they had put their  special tape on the box, stating that ""quote""  NEW ZEALAND CUSTOMS HAS INSPECTED THIS ITEM"

must have been a slow day at the border

And here we are waiting on copper tube from china, brass fittings from Italy, electronic components from Japan,for all the work around nz, as its just gone crazy busy since may !! and customs is checking my 20 gram tube of gunk!!

Got all the bushings pressed in today 

And with all my a arm bushing jobs, i leave the nuts loose untill its all assembled and has sat for a little bit to get a true zero before buttoning them up!

 i learnt the hard way when i did the bushes on my first 56 chevy many moons ago!!! and tighten them up straight away then the springs settled and screwed the guts out of the bushes😞🤨
