The 66 Catalina I bought in the fall is pretty mint.  One of the projects I am working on is a very small 1/4 inch cut on the top of the back of the bench seat on the drivers side.  It is interesting that the metal back under it appears to be bent up causing the cut. I think I remember my 66 having this same problem back in 1966.

Anyway my question is what is the best way to remove the plastic covers on the side and middle of the seat back without breaking them.  Other than the paint and top,the car is original and I would like to keep it that way.  What tools and how do I use it correctly.

Sorry I have not taken pictures of the interior yet.

Thank you in advance!

Ted

Hi Ted

In this case, a picture of the cut area of the seat would help a lot. It would give us an idea of where in the seat it is cut and help visualize what the possible problem(s) might be.

If memory serves, the Bonneville had chrome trim along the back side of the bench seat on both sides. So perhaps the fabric is weakening with age along the metal frame work of the seat. Just a guess without some sort of reference.
