I broke my driver side wheel hub pretty badly. The lug nuts siezed up and we had to snap them off the threading. 3 currently remain, holding the wheel on but i figured i need to replace this. 

those threads, are they connected to the axle itself? or is it some kind of hub? also, how am i even supposed to go about fixing and replacing this?

If it is the rear, the lug nut studs are pounded into the axle shaft itself. You should be able to take a decent size punch and a hammer and pound them out and purchase new studs and lug nuts and put the new ones in. You should not have to remove the axle in most cases.

If it is the front, then it is attached to either the hub or rotor. Again, you pound them out and replace them with new ones. Removing the rotor may make things easier to do on a bench.

Be sure to measure the length of the stud (of a good one) when you go to buy the replacements.

This is not for a 8-lug drum brake drum car is it? I ask because those cars have left and right hand thread studs.

Oh Awesome, and no, this is on my firebird that im bringing out of the ashes. 5 lug rear drum brake. Im just not educated in handling, brakes or maintenance. I just know how to make power lol

I only ask because i've changed the axle once before like 4 years ago and i cant exactly remember a whole lot. If it's as simple as hammering it out, i guess i have no problem here

That's good news.

Its easy to hammer out the old stud since it's broken and short. You have to think for a minute on the best way to get the new (e.g. longer) stud back in. Its not rocket science but you do have to think about it.

When installing,  use a larger nut or washers as a spacer,  then put the correct one on N tighten till the new lug is completely seated.

alright cool, i was thinking i needed to buy a whole new axle assembly! 

ill try to get this sorted out this weekend!

Not to, hijack this thread,but seeing it made me think back to an earlier time some years ago in my 2nd 64GTO and way before late nite auto parts stores were around. Me and the Mrs at the time...lol... were in Pigeon Forge about 125miles from home and had a stud break from the rear left. Long story short...was within 2 miles of home when pulled over due to such low speed with just 3remaining lugs and only had right signal to alert traffic.l got encouragement from the officer and was sent on my way....and made it home. Man that was the good ole days! Sorry....just had to share that!
