That's a hard thing to determine. Your Grand Am and the HHR motor are different versions of the same EcoTech 4-cylinder engine. In theory they should bolt right in. The Grand Am is a Gen I motor and the HHR is a Gen II motor.  I know GM made a lot of changes to the Gen II motor.

However one big difference is the HHR motor is the LE9 engine, which is the E85 compatible version of LE5 2.4L motor. So this engine and fuel system, sensors, etc. are designed to work with both regular unleaded and E85 ethanol fuel. So you may have to consider (A) moving all the E85 things over to the Grand Am (even if you don't use them) or (B) finding the LE5 versions of some the parts (sensors, ECM, etc.) to eliminate the E85 or (C) try your stock components to see if they work. Clearly the HHR motor has more horsepower over your original motor.

Another thing maybe fuel pressure. Is there a difference between the Grand Am and the HHR? ECM will probably have to come from the HHR since the engine changes made to the Gen II motors were significant. That may necessitate keeping other things like the engine wiring harness and how do you splice that into the rest of the factory wiring. There is a lot to consider. This is real hot rod stuff.

Bottom line, it is hard to know what it will cost. There are too many variables here. This is not a simple plug and play swap unfortunately, nor is it a popular swap where someone in the aftermarket has already done the pre-engineering work for you.
