That blue is pretty great, and of course screams Pontiac to me. I'd stick with blue to represent the Pontiac love, and it matches the exterior of the truck!

Time to start the really dirty stuff.

IMG_0875.jpg

Cleaning the block the old fashion way.

1. Super clean

2. Tooth Brush

3. Rolls of shop towels

IMG_0876.jpg

Use paper towels to prevent debris from going in the heads.

All done for now

Just remember to stay organized.

It was getting late and I do not like the compressor running past 10 pm so I called it quits. Tomorrow I will get some Scotch Brit pads for my air angle grinder to fully clean the gasket surfaces before masking for paint.

Kept working on the motor tonight.

I finished cleaning the block.

I also removed the oil pan and inspected it.

Removed the flywheel and the oil pump.

Other than that I could have taken a picture of the mess on the floor that I made when I rolled over the motor but that is not that interesting.

oh yeah and this time the truck is not a daily driver so I will take my time to lash the valves so not to call a mechanic.

  • 2 weeks later...

I know I need to post pictures but the new breather and valve covers came in today. I was all excited to get them. Hell I was not this excited on my wedding day (Frosty and Pro I will deny it) I opened the box and got 'Made in China' on my Edelbrock stuff. Is nothing sacred.
