  1. I am now using a 50 amp toggle with a 30 amp fuse. It works and looks fine so I don't think Ill spend the money. Also Ames is refunding my money for both switches. Thanks for your input.
  2. I have asked Midway if their switch will hold the 30 Amps I need. Still waiting for a reply. I have temporarily put in an inline fuse from the battery.
  3. Thanks Del, If I had this info three weeks ago it would have been great. I just spent almost two hundred dollars on two Chinese made switches that failed and because I had to splice the wires I don't yet know if I will get my money back. I really appreciate the info and if I get a refund I will buy this. For now a nice chrome switch looks and works fine. Mike
  4. Thanks Frosty but I didn't have the right tools to make a rectangular hole. I went to NAPA and bought a 50A switch and drilled a nice round hole and it works perfectly. Thank you and all you guys that put in their 2 cents.
  5. The pump works fine. It's the switch that fails. Both of the Ames switches failed right after the second usage. Total cost $183. I'm waiting to hear back from Ames to see if they will refund my money. They may not because I had to make some minor alterations to the wiring. The failure was that the toggle no longer would return to neutral and had to be manually shut down. No heat was present that I could feel. Sorry I didn't explain that before. I think it is just the cheap Chinese crap. I'm going to see what's available from my local auto supply stores and just mount a new switch somewhere on or under the dash.
  6. I also need to know if I need a reverse polarity switch. The pump is hydraulic. I guess this shows how uneducated I am.
  7. Why won't a heavy duty SPDT switch work? I bought one but they lied. They said it was 30 AMP but the stamp on the switch says 10 Amp. I am going tomorrow to find a heavy duty one. Think it will work? I don't know enough about relays to try and hook it up.
  8. So I bought a new switch from Ames and it failed. So I bought another one and it failed worse. I'm waiting to see if they will honor the return because it said it did not fit my car. Probably my bad. Will use another switch somewhere on the dash as one of you recommended. Thanks
  9. Once again I must thank you all for your help. The instructions I received were perfect. I have posted a picture of why the original switch didn't work and was able to purchase a perfect replacement from AMES (Part # PA449F). It shouldn't be hard to replace it when I get the new one.
  10. Nice rides all. Gila Bend is a good 100 miles from me. A nice short days ride. Let me know when and we can meet. Here are mine.
  11. WOW !! I don't know how to hank you guys. I won't be able to get to it until Thursday and Friday but will keep you posted then. BTW I am also a motorcyclist. I have a Goldwing and a Vulcan 750. Ride safe.
  12. Thanks again. Now I just need to find out how to get to it. Anyone have any suggestions?
  13. Thanks again Steve once I find the original switch that site will be very helpful.
  14. Thanks. Hopefully someone can tell me how to remove the pad and if the switch is right under it as it seems. I am handy but not about cars. I know I can do it if someone just tells me how.
  15. I tried both Ames and OPGI. Neither has the switch. The '64 is a one off year. Nothing else fits. I also need to know how to get to the switch. I am not a gearhead and did alost no work to the car myself. I hope you all can read this because I don't know how to answer the same message twice. HELP !!! again. Here are the pics I took. Will they appear in my profile photos?
  16. Thanks guys but being new here I can't figure out how to post additional pics. HELP !!!
  17. On my way out now will post new pics later. Thanks
  18. Thanks. My checkbook and I did a great job.
  19. Hi Guys, My name is Michael and I drive a fully restored 1964 Bonneville Convertible. Pictures of before and after are attached. I live in Prescott Valley, AZ but hale from NYC. Brooklyn actually. Right now I need some help. The up/down switch for the rag top is broken. I'm not sure how to get at it to replace it and I don't know where to get a new one. I would like to do it myself and save some cash. I've written too many checks already. I sure could use some help. Thanks. Mike
