  1. It was definitely converted because i replaced points & condenser out of it. Im in the process of looking for a new distributor. Ill keep you guys updated.. Would you recommend i go to HEI If im changing the distributor.
  2. Hey Frosty I believe your right. It had a delco Remy tag on it..i finally got it out!! It weights about 10lbs LOL... What a pain in the ass. Im going to order a new distributor soon. Thanks.
  3. I thought i was getting spark but after using a spark checker it wont even light up so the spark i do see obviously isnt sufficient. I have a new coil & new spark plugs. The distributor looks old!! Possibly even original. The point in condenser look pretty ratty so im going to change out everything.. My problem is after removing the bolt & flange, its not budging!!! I sprayed it with WD40 and let it sit for about an hour but it still won't move. I sprayed it again and I'm going to let it sit overnight. Can anybody offer some insight as to removing this it should just wiggle free but it's not even moving at all!!! Also after removing the cap and wires to get them out of my way, i saw these 2 wires floating around going to nowhere, they are in the harness of 3 wires with the ignition wire that goes to the coil. Thank you
  4. I just bought a 65" Tempest with the original 326, HEI distributor, Rochester 2brl, good solid straight car. Previous owner drove it occasionally until he said he changed the battery cables & starter. He said he crossed some wires & then it wouldn't start? I got it home it had a weak spark & in need if plugs which i changed & gapped to .35-.40 & put in new coil. Theres much better spark now & carb is getting fuel! Initially i squirted some starting fluid in the carb but car just cranks & wont start. Doest even hiccup like it wants too. Got good spark, got fuel, im thinking timing?? Im very mechanically inclined & have built & worked on bikes (Choppers) my whole life. Im trying to research, learn & understand timing, but its confusing. I can have it towed to a shop to a mechanic that specializes in classic cars but I want to learn & do it myself. Im going to attach a photo of a wire i found loose against the fire wall, idk if it went to the ballast resistor prior to the HEI?? This wire is in a 3 wire harness, along with the ignition wire that goes to the coil, if this helps? Any advice as to where to start would be greatly appreciated. I am in Wolcott/Waterbury Connecticut, if there is anyone close to me that would like to tinker & work with me so i can learn i am more that willing to pay for your time, im a very quick learner & understand mechanics, i just need a clear explanation to store in my brains data base 😄 Thanks & Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸 Semper Fi 🇺🇸 Semper Fi...
  5. Just picked it up last week. I cant wait to start digging in & getting everything sorted out. It was running about a month ago but previous owner said it stopped & now im picking up where he left off.
