  1. I know what you mean, but I looked into sewing machines... And seemed a lot of money for me to screw up the seat covers... So I decided it is better to get a professional to do that bit, and I would attempt the rest, because I would like to be able to say I had a big hand in the interior restoration as well as the outside. Crazy fact my great grandfather was considered one of the best trimmers in London and actually trimmed Queen Victoria's funeral carriage.... Don't think it is an inherited skill, unfortunately
  2. Driver's is power, no not yet, found a local upholstery guy, who is gonna strip them down paint the frame and recover them and the rear bench. Then I will tackle the motor and see if it works. Yeah I was really pleased I found them. Guy is going to sell me the matching material so I can try my hand at the door cards and a custom centre console.
  3. Thanks all... Problem solved and great feedback as always.
  4. Been a while... But apart from a pile of boxes of parts in the garage.. not much more progress on 'Lucky'. But I do have a question. Lucky (62 Bonneville) currently has a bench seat, managed to find a pair 63 Grand Prix buckets for a good price, so took a leap. So question is will they fit, they look the same but as the Bonneville buckets I have found pictures of but with bigger trans tunnel am I going to struggle? Plus some more pics of 'Lucky'
  5. Thanks for the info, might have to take a leap on one at the size I want see if it works, I know I need a minimum 15" rim to fit the disc brake conversion I am looking at.
  6. So been a few weeks but some replacement parts have started to gather in my garage....... So next question for all you experts, if I go for a Ridetech Street Grip suspension upgrade which lowers her by 2", what is the largest wheel and tire combo that will fit without rubbing issues? 15x8s or 17x8s?
  7. Well firstly the name's Marcus, been a week or so, so I thought I would give you an update. Bit of background, am waiting for wife's cousin to get his shop together so I can get started.... So in a holding pattern it terms of physical work. But I'm like a dog with a bone, so took the wife over to see 'Lucky' and had another good look round. Saw a few bits that need replacing... And this week have managed to score all the parts. So am now a dog with two tails..... and dying to get started.
  8. Just found it on the motor bookshop for 30 bucks.... Done deal!!!
  9. Wow.... only joined yesterday and already a wealth of knowledge, doom and marital advise.... now I am really scared!!! I thought I had made a good choice with the bucket of bolts!!! not so sure now!! I am a very cautious and thoughtful person, so I have been considering this and researching for months and months and...... months!!! My google search is full of companies, engines, parts, carpets, suspension, brakes, paint, wheels.......... I spend every evening watching Bitchin Rides, Texas Metal, Iron Resurrection...... ( i work away from home). Anyway having taken the leap... no turning back now!! So you lot better prepare yourself for a bunch of dumb questions!! I am a (Brit) in Houston, any suggestions on the Pontiac owners or swap meets?
  10. trans not sure, but it has the original 6.4L V8. it's not running right now, not sure if I want to try and get it refurbed and updated, or go for a new crate motor.
  11. Thanks for the welcome, it was funny the two guys who helped me pick up are GTO, Camaro and Charger guys, and they were kinda looking sideways at 'Lucky' as I have named her, then while I was at Home Depot trying to pick up some 2x8s to replace the ramps we had bent trying to get it on the trailer.... 4 people stopped to ask about it..... I think it is a cool looking car, hopefully I can do it justice. But on my original question do you know is the 62 Catalina hood and trunk lid fit the 62 Bonneville?
  12. I have lot's of ideas, hopefully not too ambitious. But overall, no not going for showroom, mainly because I don't think I have the skills, so I am thinking restomod to a standard I am happy with, an then just a weekend cruiser with the family, local car meets......
  13. Good morning all, Well maybe a mid-life crisis scenario, but last night I bought a 62 Bonneville 4dr, with the plan restore it as best I can. Completely out of my comfort zone, love cars, but no nothing about anything, hence the will need lot's of help. Seems a pretty solid car (had the wife's cousin check it out), some minor rust, but all there including, engine and drive train, body panels, interior, trim. Have decided to nickname it lucky, lucky to find it, lucky to get it on the not so great trailer, and lucky to make it back to the storage location without it falling off said trailer. Obviously will know more once it is down to bare metal, but the trunk lid and hood may need replacing, can't find much on replacements for the Bonneville, but the 62 Catalina looks very similar to my untrained eye, am I correct? Many thanks in advance!!
