  1. Married the woman and the 1950 Pontiac came with her.
  2. Located and purchased a water pump. Weather permitting, it should arrive before next weekend. As with any water pump replacement, I plan to flush the cooling system but not sure what type of antifreeze/coolant to use. Anyone got a clue? I have googled, but answers seem to be at odds with one another.
  3. Here are some pictures of the engine. Pictures of the car can be found under Hello from Cypress TX in New Member Introductions.
  4. indymanjoe, the original water pump is still on the engine. I am looking for one because the bearing is shot and I am concerned about the impeller. Does he rebuild them?
  5. Yes, it still has the original flat head inline 8 cylinder. I am working on learning how to post pictures and will get them on this thread as soon as possible.
  6. Hi everyone! I am in a semi-desperate search for a water pump for my wife's 1950 Chieftain. I have ordered, received and returned two now as for some reason it is believed by others that the car has a GM 305 in it. The biggest problem that I have is that I married the woman after she already had the car and I don't know that much about it. I am hoping that there is someone who knows what questions to ask me so I know what information I need to provide to facilitate finding this part. Any help would be appreciated. Or if anyone knows where the Land of Old Pontiac Parts is that would be helpful to as it does not show up on Google Earth.
  7. Hi everybody. Thank you for the warm welcomes and I promise pictures are coming soon. In the meantime, I am about to jump over to the technical area as I am in search of a part and some information.
  8. Hello everybody! Just taking a minute to introduce myself. My name is Art and I am married to a woman who owns a 1950 Pontiac Chieftain. The car is in pretty good shape but not much has been done with it for the last 20 or so years. I am finally ready to get going on this project but don't really know much about the car or how to make the necessary repairs. My mechanic experience is mostly with old Mustangs and any Harley Davidson motorcycles. I have used forums like this many times for sharing information about my many projects and I am hoping that I will find success here. As I learn more about the car I will be happy to share what I have learned for others to see. Thank you all for being here and for the guidance I am sure to receive.
