  1. I survived Black Friday shopping!!!!
  2. I'm glad my Northstar is too. Also, great. Now that I've been pulled back in, this is going to be another site I'm going to be lurking on during class. I'm ruined
  3. Wee-woooooo. I didn't think anyone cared I was MIA. I've been busy with work/school and I feel disconnected from the car community. Although my Bonneville has been bending me over (keep it in your pants notallthere) lately so I could probably use some advice. Also weird: I only saw this post because I got an email from Tapatalk at 11am this morning with this thread title. Even thought it was started in June.
  4. Have to agree with stratman on this. I did a little side-by-side and came to the same conclusion
  5. sacrilege aside. It actually doesn't look bad haha
  6. Thats what I heard. It ate lower intake manifold gaskets on some of the late 90s-early 2000s V6s. Dunno if it was the 3800 or the 60*V6. Or both.
  7. Fixed 3 problems with the Bonneville this week. 1. Vacuum line was all jacked up under a manifold, car kept throwing lean codes at me. As Chaos put it "the Northstar does not like vacuum leaks. It literally bugs the f&#k out." 2. Transmission fluid was dark. Car had a hidden code, P0897 Transmission Fluid Deteriorated, that ironically I would have never found if it hadn't of been for the lean codes mentioned above that trigger the SES/CE light. 3. GM, why you put power steering line near sharp objects??? Yeah its a design flaw on in these GXPs I swear, the return line rubs on the engine when the cheap brackets get loose. Fixed.
  8. Shes finally ready for winter lol. I went absolutely INSANE trying to fix the hydraulic pump. I refused to admin defeat, but it just kept leaking all of the fluid into the crankcase through the timing gears. I went on Ebay, threw a hail mary at a $150 salvaged pump from later model tractor and scored the touchdown. "New" on the left. Old on the right. Notice the diameter of the outlet (top hole) is different. That would be (going with my football theme here) the extra point kick. Since the new one it from a later model it has a higher flow and pressure so the hydraulics respond quicker and with more power. IH did this because they realized the pressure tolerance of the "Touch Control" hydraulic block was way higher than these pumps could put out (good old days of American overengineering), so to increase power in later models they simply bored it out a little.
  9. Hey all. I can't get the Phoenix to move on anything higher than idle. In Park/Neutral I can step on the gas all day and it'll be happy to rev, but in Drive if I try to step on the gas it wants to die. Transmission load problem? The Transmission leaked all the fluid out over the last few months so I had to bring it back to the proper level. Ran and drove fine the day I did that (Saturday), but yesterday (Monday) it was doing as described. Only other thing I did that Saturday was change the oil/filter, but like I said, she ran top on Saturday.
  10. Technically yes, but its stupid. The loss of function from using a controller (if the game you're playing even has controller support) isn't worth it. You just dumb down the usefulness of the computer. The only time I use my USB controller is if I'm playing something like a SNES or Playstation emulator. Lets not even get started on the lack of precision and keybindings. You could never play a game like ArmA 3 without a mouse + keyboard. Also, if my computer is hooked up to a UHD TV infront of a couch how am I supposed to do work and research? It just needs to be at a desk. PCs for the most part are stations and less mobile than thier console counterparts. I can't just grab a box and a controller, stuff it in my bag, and go to a friends house (and I have taken my PC to friends houses, you gotta plan in advance lol)
  11. No I totally get that. Thats the exact reason why I got the PS4. I love PC gaming, its always my number one, but sometimes sitting at my desk hunched over at the screen gets tiresome and I don't have the will to play anything lol
  12. I was predisposed to get a Playstation from the beginning, I grew up on the PSOne and PS2. PS4 was my first return to console (Wii doesn't count) since I got my PS2 when it first came out in 2000 lol. I got it because I missed the days of just grabbing a controller and relaxing. Call me late to the party, but not having a corded controller is amazing hahah. I also got it for its media use. I can watch Youtube and Netflix on my TV
  13. The only games I have for my newly aquired PS4 are Madden '16, Destiny: The Taken King, and SW: Battlefront. SW:BF is garbage, probably never going to play it. It came with my bundle, I just wanted the cool Darth Vader PS4 lol
  14. It still a better option if you only deal with light duty stuffy like pulling a small boat or trailers or carrying misc items. In those situations the Silverado is overkill.
  15. There is a ton to learn from this thing wow. Most of this data I have no idea what it means, but I love a challenge!
  16. So yeah, I got a Tech II clone. The Bonneville guys convinced me. The former/current GM techs over there were amazed by the quality so I got it from the same vendor. I'm really excited to learn.
