  1. So, I don't like road salts on my car for two reasons. 1. It looks like crap 2. My car is old, and corrosion is a bitch. I don't want to take it to a car wash because they recycle their water and I don't want to risk a salty solution being spray all over my car. Does anyone know a good way to get it off your car at home?
  2. Is that like a play on "Bonneville" and "Terrific" or is it a sexual pun?
  3. I think it looks sick. Its unique and different It pleases you and at the same time doesn't make you look a douche ricer haha. Just don't be like this: "MEH PRPLE WEELS LOOKS LIKE TEH SHITZ! IMA ADD A HUG SPOILERZ AND HAV BLU LEDZZ UNDR SOM HOODSCOOPZ.... brah." And yeah Chaos, chill a little. Save it for the douches on the Pontiac FB page or GAOC.
  4. I love to see people restoring cars. Good luck with it man! And Welcome!
  5. I rather like to see it go into a museum or something of the sort. I live all the way in western mass so no way I'm getting it lol
  6. Lies. But I still don't get why this is all the way in this section of the forums lol
  7. Seriously... I posted this last night. And why is this in the Other Auto News? It is a Pontiac.
  8. I'm one of them :D Nice car! hopefully you can restore that baby and !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Orange, like in the pic. Unless you have a better idea?
  10. 72 Orange Ventura? GAHH!! You must show meh!!! I have a 78 Black Phoenix!!!
  11. Well Problem fixed! My girlfriend's father and I took a look at the choke to see if there was any issue, there was not. So he just reduced the idle speed and whadda'ya know it stopped idling fast (when it warms up of course) AND it also fixed the tranny clunk. The gears must have just been hitting each other too fast because of the high idle but now when it is idling normally I get no clunk at all.
  12. Does anybody know a place where I can get a Pontiac Racing Decal? The one that came with my car is starting to flake off because its old. I really love the look it adds to my car and was interested in getting a new one. EDIT: Just realized that the "Exterior" section doesn't appear until you're logged in, sorry for post in wrong section. This is what it looks like on my car: This is the actual decal:

Uhm, i beat all of you, i went negative distance
  14. I was throwing up the idea that they are separate issues, about how the clunk could have nothing to do with the high idle but with the leak.
  15. I did rebuild that carb because it was stuttering and stalling, since then, I've had no issue with it sputtering or stalling and it cold starts without any issue, but regardless the carb is still old. Oh and another thing I forgot to mention is that my girlfriends father used to work on older cars (mostly Pontiacs) when he was younger and currently works at my local CarQuest shop and he enjoys looking at my car for me and I brought to his attention what looked like an oil drip but he said it might be transmission fluid from a bad seal/gasket, could that also be the culprit?
  16. Necroposting but, My father has an Equinox and it had some really weird issues. For example, when you use the key to open the door, the car alarm goes off.... what the hell? haha. There were a few others but that's the one I remember the most because it freaked my brother out.
  17. Yeah, so I've noticed that my car is idling faster in park/neutral than when it is in gear (Drive, Reverse, ect) I did some research and it said something about vacuum hoses being cracked, or a bad accelerator pump or power circuit. I'm very concerned that this will damage my engine. Although I also read somewhere that it will do this on a cold start. (Typical for me, I live in New England) and that the engine it just heating up because sometimes after the engine has been idling for a bit and I tap the gas the idle speed decreases, its just that lately it doesn't seem to be doing that. I've also noticed that when I put it from neutral/park to Drive/Reverse the transmission doesn't engage right away, instead it'll take a second and then I can hear a slam kinda noise and at the same time the car will shake a little and then it is in gear. I'm also concerned with this. I realize I've been posting many about concerns with "The Phoenix", alas I'm only 17 years old and I'd really like to take car of this beautiful piece of equipment, but I do not know much about cars. If it is an issue I want to take care of it before it gets out of hand.
  18. Really? I think it looks terrible. I don't know there is just something about it that I don't particularly like.
  19. So, the original color of this cars interior was red. It is currently this ugly tan (With the seats being from and Olds Alero or Intrigue (one of the two) and they don't match the interior color. My father and I are thinking of either returning the car to Red or having it Black. The current finish of the car is black. The original color was silver with two red racing stripes. The guy also did a poor job of dying the dashboard (you can see scuffs of red still, most notable where the windshield meets the frame) It also still had the red adhesive on the window frame (We replaced the windshield anyway, so that is no longer an issue) What do you guys think? I need some advice for a good looking interior remodeling. (I can also provide pictures of the whole car Before/After if needed) These are pics of the original interior: Here are pictures of the interior now:
  20. My Phoenix has Drum brakes in the rear and they sometimes squeak and sometimes they do not. I'm curious if that means the brakes need to be replaced or they are just squeaking because of moisture that is getting into them and has not yet evaporated. (It was above freezing here in NE the other day so the everything was wet) The brakes are relatively new so im wondering what exactly can be causing it. Altho I do believe it is just moisture.
  21. Nice Car! Welcome! My 78 Phoenix LJ still wins tho
