  1. Hello everyone, this is my first time on a forum so I have no clue what I'm doing but anyways that's not important. I own a 1965 Pontiac Laurentian with a 230 inline 6 engine that has been in a barn for the past 20 years, before that it had been sitting out in a field for 35 years or so. I've finally found some time for the car, spark plugs have all been replaced with OEM AcDelco plugs, ignition coil replaced, oil changed, gas drained and a new battery. However the distributor cap and points have NOT BEEN REPLACED. Before it was put away in the barn, it was towed to a shop that replaced tires, maybe distributor, cracked open the engine and got it running and driving. Since I have tried to get it going (with my non-existent mechanical experience) I know that it's getting fuel but I do not believe it's getting spark. The distributor turns but that's about all I get in addition to it cranking and 95% of electrics working. Once I get it running, my plan is to restore it to original colour (white) and replace the underpowered 230 I6 with a 421 HO V8. Do you think that is a good idea? If so where the heck can I even find a new engine for the car? If someone can help me out I'd really appreciate it!
