  1. I'm replacing it with a stock system and a new set of Flowmaster Super 40's. I thought about installing the factory correct mufflers but we like the Flowmaster exhaust notes.
  2. Thanks for the tips. The engine was rebuilt a few years ago so there is a possibility the nuts will unthread. I plan on carefully cutting the old system out. I'll be sure to get replacement studs. Luckily the car will be on a lift so working with the studs will be easier than lying on my back.
  3. HI Everyone. I have to replace the exhaust system on the Goat. On the drive to the nationals last summer the Flowmaster Symphony Orchestra began sounding more like Spinal Tap. It's a really old system booger welded together so I'll be glad to see it replaced. I've ordered the parts to replace it myself. A place opened up near my house that rents out their hoist so I'll do the work there. I was checking the exhaust manifolds, and it looks like the pipes connect to the manifolds by nuts and studs. I'm a little concerned because knowing my luck a stud will break when I try to remove them. Any advice on removing the nuts without breaking a stud? Thanks Everyone
  4. We'll be at the M1 on Friday. Our car got accepted for the Dream Show.
  5. Sadly I didn't get any photos at the convention. We arrived on Tuesday and had to check in, get through Tech Inspection, get the car in its spot and walked to the nearby bars. Wednesday I spent the day cleaning every inch of the car for judging. Thursday we had to sit by the car waiting the judges, then the storm hit, and the judges didn't get to us until after 6:00pm. Friday we left for home. I'll post some photos we took on the way to the convention.
  6. They called it a "Delrecho" storm. It didn't last long, but did some serious damage in the area. At the hotel a few GTOs got damaged, and there were some minor personal injuries. The top section of the utility poles were snapped off leaving utility lines on the ground, trucks and trailers. When you left you had no choice but to drive over downed electrical lines to get out of the hotel parking lot. Our car was inside. Originally we were to be outside but I got a call from GTOAA. They had extra spots in the building and asked if I wanted one, so I accepted.
  7. Well, the drive along Route 66 went very well. The visit to the Route 66 Museum was interesting. The GTOAA convention was going fine until a major storm took out power to the hotel and cancelled the rest of the convention so we drove home a few days early. In the end we drove the goat 1000 miles with no issues and got an award in the Concours Unrestored Class.
  8. We got accepted at the Woodward Dream Show this year. We'll be there. Sorry for the delayed response. We were at the GTOAA convention last week.
  9. Hi Frosty, Yup, I'm back at Pontiac Plant 14 for awhile. We're getting the goat ready for a road trip to the GTOAA convention next week so I was decoding the engine and transmission's casting numbers. I was hoping the serial number could be decoded into a manufacture date or something. We plan on being at Woodward at least a couple of times, life and weather permitting.
  10. Hi Everyone, My "72 GTO has the original TH400. the tag on the side of the trans reads, "72-PG 5272". Can anyone tell me what the 5272 stands for? From what I've found, it could be a serial number. Thanks in Advance!
  11. Hi Frosty Here is the color card. There are several with the IRID suffix
  12. Hi Frosty, I hope you're doing well. I was in Spring Hill for 18 months and life gets in the way. I should scan and post the color card we bought. It was from R&M Paints. Our car's color is also listed with the "irid" suffix. That might explain how the silver has a green tint in sunlight and turns gray on overcast days.
  13. Greetings Everyone, We bought a 1972 Pontiac Paint Card at a swap meet and several colors had an "irid" suffix. I'm guessing it stands for Iridescant color. Does anyone know if Pontiac offered iridescent colors in '72? Thanks
  14. Thanks Frosty, I was looking at the kind that jack up the car using hydraulics but the reviews are all over the place. Some love them, others not due to the build quality and customer support being inconsistent. I'm leaning toward the skates you showed from Amazon. I like the locking casters feature. I hope once I get the car on them and get it rolled over to the wall that it isn't too difficult to roll the car away from the wall in the spring.
  15. Hi Everyone I'm looking for recommendations of car dollies. We're keeping the goat in our garage this winter and would to get dollies so we can roll the car close to the wall. Does anyone use car dollies and what are your thoughts? Thanks in advance, John
  16. Yup! That was Nancy and her mom out and about on Woodward. I'm working in Tennessee this year so she and her mom been keeping the car from getting dusty
  17. GM called and I'm at the Spring Hill Plant. We have several construction projects going down here. I'll be in town every three weeks so hopefully I'll see you guys at least once. I like the Roadmonster name. It would be cool if you could get that made into a badge that matches the stock badges
  18. I wish I was in town this summer. I'm working in Tennessee now. My wife just picked up our GTO after getting a new set of Polyglas GT's put on it. She says the car handles great now.
  19. I know your pain after having to remove and reinstall our '72's dash. Hopefully everything is ok with your reinstall and it's a simple fix to get everything working.
  20. Hey Frosty! Great photos. We'll be parking at the Widetrackers area Saturday but I'm not sure what time yet. Hopefully we can all meet up. What time do you think you guys will be there?
  21. Frosty, it was great meeting you Saturday. Hopefully our paths will cross this weekend
  22. I saw the email Widetrackers about Saturday's meet at the museum. We're bringing our goat. Hey Frosty, we'll look for you there
