  1. I still see pontiac high performance and GM high tech performance in the book store magazine stands sometimes. Flip through them occasionally to ogel the F-bodies and 'vettes but they never feature much else besides those and older v8 muscle cars. Want to see a tech article or car feature on a V6 fwd or a GM 4cyl? Forget it... all you'll ever see, and rarely at that, is something on the grand prix GTP. And most of those articles I used to see where submitted by Chris White, who last I checked sold his GTP long ago and had a new GTO.
  2. Is Fquik still around? I never hear anything about it anymore. Someone was trying to get me to make a page there for a while, but I could never figure out the difference between that and cardomain, and I already had a cardomain page so I never got around to it. It's like trying to figure out the difference between facebook and myspace.
  3. Well, I went through a string of used cars including two Pontiacs, an Oldsmobile, a Chevy, and a Buick.... all of them from the 1980's except the Buick (a '92 park avenue). After a while I just got tired of driving crappy old cars that always needed fixing. So for one summer I got a job as a temp for the City of Warren, MI sanitation department. Mostly picking up yard waste and recycling and sometimes trash... it sucked... but they paid me $14 an hour! I'd never do that job again (nor will I take the garbage man for granted), but I made enough that summer for a big down payment. I looked around at several different GM brands, mainly 'cause my dad was parts manager at a GM dealer so I had a hook up for GM parts and service info. I liked the current Pontiac offerings. I could either afford a loaded Grand Am, or a mid-range Grand Prix. I couldn't afford a GTP so I decided the Prix was out. I was tired of driving "boats" and wanted a smaller car. The grand am had almost as much stock HP but was lighter, smaller, and a newer chassis design. Plus I decided if I was going to pay 20+k for a car I wanted all the toys, so I got a GT1 coupe with leather, which meant it had every option available for the car. I'm still happy with the decision. After driving a '97 GP GT for years now as my daily, I can definitely say the GAGT chassis is better.
  4. Here's mine. 2000 gagt There's a page in there for my grand prix daily driver too off my home page. I just recently did a major overhaul with new pics. Usually keep a ling to it in my sig on forums so people can just check out my mods without always asking me what I have done.
  5. Nice color... I like white. Clean is the way to go. It's a classic look, and there is a lot you can do with white to accent it. It goes with just about anything. I've been resisting tinting mine for a long time 'cause it's hard for me to see out at night. Being here in FL though it does get very hot inside. I'm looking for a place that carries the 3M crystaline tint which is very light/almost clear so you can see through it easy but it blocks UV rays to protect your interior.
  6. Don't have that many pics of me, but here are a few of the better ones. Doin' what I do best... winnin' at car shows. Watching "Top Gear" That's a Paul Chen Katana. Bein' a goof ball... where my Pontiac peeps at?
  7. Alright, well good deal then. Plan on doing some dyno time with it? Would be interested to see the results of the cam + rockers with springs that will let you rev it up some.
  8. Yeah, the PAC springs are definitely gonna be better than those comps if pairing anything more than a moderate cam with a higher ratio rocker. Those rockers look like floating ones (no pedestal? not self adjusting)... assuming these are in a 3800 with hydraulic lifters? If so, the lash might not be adjusted properly. IE you aren't supposed to do them a bank at a time, they should be done one cylinder at a time. When I installed the crane rockers on my engine the directions said to rotate the engine until the intake pushrod started moving up, then adjust the lash on the exhaust rocker, and visa versa for the intake rockers. That's how you know you are on the lowest part of the base circle to set your lifter pre-load. It might be fine. Just lettin' ya know they might not all have the same amount of pre-load.
  9. Looks pretty slick man. Welcome to the site!
  10. lol, thanks for the vote of confidence.
  11. dyno sheets/time slips are on the last page of my cardomain. Dates on them are far apart which is part of the reason for the discrepancy. I don't get to the track often and last time was over a year ago. Running full street trim with subs in the trunk and everything. Also high power FWD automatic with 225 width street tires don't make for good launches or shifts. My 60' times were only 2.2-2.3. Biggest problem was I was getting KR through all of third gear. It would get to the end of the track and acceleration would just die. After doing a lot more tuning I've got rid of most of that, and the dyno was a good 6-9 months after the track. I'm continually working on the tune, and I made the dyno pulls on a 2.4" pulley and have a 2.2" on now, so I expect next time I'll handily beat my old track time and dyno numbers. No idea when that will be though, I'm working a lot right now. It takes time. I'm sure I could run a much better time with some drag radials too, but I don't have the money for another set of wheels and tires I'm only going to use 1-2 times a year. I've set up the car to be an all around performer. To still be good on the street but be able to handle drag racing and track days or autocross too. I'm sure I could make it a better drag car, but that would compromise the others.
  12. No kiddin'? That's where I'm at right now. Moved here in 2007.
  13. Older pic but still looks mostly the same. I plan on doing a little wiring tucking in the future to try and clean it up and make it look better. With the UV LED's on at night.
  14. No pics of my previous cars. They weren't anything to show off. lol Before my Grand Am was, in order... 1992 Buick Park Avenue 1984 Oldsmobile Delta88 1986 Chevy Caprice Classic 1985 Pontiac 6000 SE (4cyl) 1984 Pontiac 6000 LE (6cyl)
  15. Thanks guys. Yeah, I did the SC and a lot of the performance mods well before I got the body kit. I wanted power first, and I just didn't like any of the other kits out at the time. I was waiting for something better looking and higher quality to be produced. Anyway, here are a couple engine pics.
  16. Hey guys. Tired of the same ol' thread titles? You all know what's goin' on so here I go ... Name is Aaron. I'm on my fourth Pontiac since I started driving. I had an '84 6000 with the 2.8L v6 in high school then an '85 2.3L 4cyl after that. Went through a couple Chevy's, an Oldsmobile, and a Buick before I came back to Pontiac with my first new car purchase... a 2000 Grand Am GT1 coupe. Got it in arctic white with leather and all options. I've been the only owner and it just turned over 60,000 miles. I also have a teal green '97 Grand Prix GT sedan that I use as a daily driver now. Only a few mods on that... it's got 170,000 miles on it. Mostly I just try and keep it running and reliable, because the Grand Am can be a little more "tempermental" with all it's mods. Little bit about me... I come from a car family of course. The parents have three corvettes, '73 convertible, '96 coupe, and an '03 convertible. Started working on cars with my dad, who is a parts department manager at a Chevy dealer in Michigan. My brother has a '73 Nova, and an '03 Mini Cooper S, and runs a shop in MI tuning Mini's. I live in Florida and build X-ray scanners for a living. When I'm not working or working on the cars, I like the typical guy stuff... action movies, video games, going to the gym, etc. Basically I'm just a true gear head. I can appreciate a lot of different kinds of cars as long as they are modified correctly and tastefully. Anyway, I'll put up a few pics of the GA for you. Way too many mods to list, but here are the key points: magnacharger SC kit, heads/cam/headers on a stock short block, rebuilt tranny with LSD and raybestos clutches, fully modded suspesion and Baer 13" brakes, RK sport body kit. I also do my own tuning with a DHP powertuner. Here is a link to my cardomain page if you want more info. 2000 grand am Enjoy!
