Don't you just love a wise guy!?!?!?
You have a few good points Last Indian, I must admit. I will try it. I am just tired of yanking it back in and out though. I'm afraid each time I do that I will damage something else. That is still the original wiring harness. Nothing is so simply that I can't screw it up.
My fear for the turn signal is if the problem is in the wiring of the steering column. I don't really relish the thought of having to disassembly the steering column in order harness to replace the turn signal wiring harness. Or better yet spend even more money and get a new tilt column with a new harness! Yeah that's the ticket!
Frosty, do you think you can leave the gage cluster out of the dash and use some wire with alligator clips to connect the plug-in harness to the gage cluster to try and troubleshoot the issue? I’ve done this before! It take several wire & alligators clip assemblies to do this, but it beats the in and out cycle.
also I’ve pulled the wire harness on the old steering columns before and unless yours is different that those you only need to pull the wheel and the horn assembly down to the turn signal switch! Then unplug the connector down at the bottom of the column and the whole harness, connector and will come out the top! But maybe yours is different.

Keep your head up buddy! You’ll get there!
A couple things with the lights are possible. Have you turned the the 194 LEDs that don’t work around in the socket? Some LEDs are polarity sensitive. Also take a good look at the contact prongs of the sockets that interface with the Mylar circuit board! If those cooper prongs aren’t shiny it could be a connection issue. Lastly, and I’m sure you have, but double check the led bulbs to make sure they actually work, they wouldn’t be the first bulb that didn’t work straight out of the box!Hey look at it this way; you have assembly and disassembly of the dash down pat so if things get to slow you can always start a side job!😁

last Indian, tell me what you do to preserve the shine on your aluminum?🙄
the other thing that gets me is that blue... now you shot that vid in your garage, whats it like out in the sun?
it kind of looks like a blue that would pop in the light!
Sorry Kiwi, I missed this! Well for the finish on the aluminum I do a couple things. First let’s assume that the aluminum is well polished to start! You know buffed, no scratches, mirror finish! We all know aluminum even in that polished state oxidizes. To keep the finish bright and mirror like I use only a terry cloth material with Happich Simichrome.
This is the only aluminum polish I’ve ever used! Yes I have tried others & to be blunt they just plain failed!
The blue on the Indian is a pretty paint & an interesting one! I love a black car! I’ve almost exclusively owned black cars, but when I saw the blue on this car I knew that was for me! It’s a metallic paint, but it is also a flip-flop paint! So depending on the light, the type of light, sunlight, florescent, incandescent. It can appear blue, electric blue, purple, iridescent purple among other variations!

I promised the boss that I would get the kids room lined before Xmas
so this weekend has been gib board work... oh you guys call it dry wall
But it’s beer o clock now
And I am sure your all like me... nothing like having a new tool in the armour of equipment to make life easier 😀
bought myself the Milwaukee dry wall screw gun.... it’s pretty cool 🍻
I love Milwaukee tools! Nothing else comes close! I have so many of them now it’s embarrassing!
I have to agree with Frosty! The muddying & sanding sucks! Over the years I’ve gotten better, I don’t use any premixed mud anymore, that stuff is horrible! I use a quick set mud you mix and it hardens. So you can scrape it with a trowel & then minimal sanding, but still!
I’ve seen the pink wood here in the states before, but not for awhile now! Biggest problem here is getting fir over pine! And oh yeah straight!
when I did my last big addition I had a hard time getting fir and most nearly all the pine looked like a corkscrew.

I feel your pain Kiwi...
Ain't it fixin to be Summer in New Zealand too..??
I generally don't drink much ...Tonight I will make an exception...A recent Tropical Storm took out a large part of one of my 100 year old Ashe trees...Luckily it barely missed the house...So I am going to use the tree to build a bonfire tonight and drink a couple of brews while standing around it....During the course of this evenings festivities I will propose a toast and hoist a beer in honor of your deceased Kelvinator...🍻
One other thing...Might have found a job for Earl..
Or the 10 gage! Where’s a Coyote when you need one!

You either need to pay attention to spell check or else you’re using Eskimo! It’s you go! Not yugo, but yes I can go to the shrink if you think that would help!🤪
Just as long as it’s not a witch doctor shrink! I hear those guys shrink heads! Oh wait that’s what I’m going for! Silly me!🤓

Anyway, moving along, I had set myself up to purchase a set of 15 x 7 Rallye 2s, but wanted to measure for clearance prior to committing. I had a look under the car and they'll fit at the back but there's bugger all clearance between the steering knuckle and inside edge of the tyre at the front. So, it looks like I'll hold off for a set of 14 x 6s. They seem to be a bit rare (especially Down Under) so I may have to procure a set of brand new ones from Ames. Here's the thing: fullsize B bodies use a 5" PCD. Someone told me this and I didn't believe them until I got home and actually measured it for myself with a pair of calipers. Yet another friggin' drama involving parts suitability for that 65 GP. It's already been a journey getting this far, so I guess it's just another instalment in the never ending saga of an owner INSISTENT on certain mods to make his hardtop look even cooler than Pontiac managed in the first place. So, like I said before: if anyone Stateside has a set of 14 x 6s they want to sell, drop me a line. I faffed around with one of those online 'wheel simulators' and screenshotted a Tempest (no GP image was available, surprise, surprise) with Rallye 1s & 2s. The Type 1s are really nice, but the Type 2s just look the biz. The simulator even allowed me to choose what lowered stance I wanted and what size wheels.
The search continues.
First off, absolutely everybody has their own taste & should do what pleases them! So if what you choose pleases you when all is said and done that’s all that matters!
There are definitely concepts within a style and I think that’s what Frosty refers to?! Then there are visually effects that can’t be argued, but can be ignored or discounted as to what their effects are.
For example, your two images above. Both look good! Both are classic designs! Yet the Rally IIs that use a darker center make the wheel look weaker! Not as dominant as the Rally I!! Since wheels and tires are an expensive proposition JustA make sure you get what you want. Also remember with an aftermarket wheel like the American Racing wheel you can get different offsets that may allow you to go to a 15” x 7” rim.below are pics that kind of show how slight nuances can have a subtle effect!
These are American Racing Wheels! What is unique about them is they are 18”, but they are a two piece. So with these rims they turn the center around in the rim or I’ll call it the ring. So the center sits in the larger portion of the ring which give the wheel an over all larger appearance since the center is actually 2” larger than it would be if it were a standard 18” wheel.
this was my 69 Z with 15” x 7” front and 15” x8” rears American Racing wheels that I machined to look like Hildebrandt wheelsthese were on my wife 74 they’re 15 spoke American Racing
these are the stock Grand Prix wheels on my wife’s 02
These are the American Racing wheels on my 00 GP
The point is if you look at each variation they can make the wheel and tire combo look bold and muscular or subtly weaker and less pronounced.- 3

I work at an auto parts store so I will do a test on the battery and alternator and get back to you
Just remember it could be that, but it could be something else too! In the end it’s an electrical interface that’s the issue. Something tells something else to flow electrical energy to the starter and bypass the ignition switch! Within that entire circuit somewhere lies the problem. Battery, key fob, switch, DIC menu, etc.

My onboard computer reads 14v but you never know. I'm going to check oil and coolant and replace my fob battery. I've heard that if your fluids aren't within a certain parameter, remote start won't work
That 14v is when the cars running! Which is what the alternator voltage is sending to the battery. Which has nothing to do with the battery condition!
No! Fluids will not effect the remote start!

It is possibly the car battery voltage. New cars really need at least 12.25 or higher! The other issue that goes with that is a load test! That’s when a bad battery that shows 12.25 or higher, but when you try to start the car the voltage drops below 9.6v and actually below 10v can be suspect depending on several other factors.

Ok! Ok! Seriously! It’s 110! It’s not like you’re going to feel anything! I’ve been zapped several times in my life, (lucky bastard)! You just need to let go! Ok so 50 volts or less and less than 1 amp can have you looking down on your own body! But it won’t hurt!😁

Anything close to 12 is a blast, but there’s fast then there’s quick and then there is holy ?!#*@! Some time back before you were on here Kiwi Frosty and I had a conversation about my father-in-law! He was In WWII. He was a test pilot for the Navy, he also fly reconnaissance mission over China and the China Sea. He was somewhat famous if you will, but most of that came after he left the Navy. He and a very close and good war mate started an airport and acquired surplus F2g Corsair’s theses were 4800 hp machines. Long story short the video is of his Corsair after it was resurrected a few years back both Corsairs in the video belonged to them and flew multiple years in the famous Cleveland Air Races known as the Thompson Trophy Race! The planes even as prop planes flew close to the speed of sound! That’s fast!https://youtu.be/v4HfZkNkxys

🤦♂️Calm down, geeze. I was never calling you out - only relating my experience. My conversations with those who have installed them. My visual inspections of installations. My readings of technical documents relating to them. Guess I can't do that? I do not think less of you for installing one. As I noted previously, I'm happy you have one and that it's working out for you and wish you nothing but continued success. Also as noted, I have no idea what brand you have, how it's specifically installed and so on. For all I know you know the secrete to picking a reputable unit and installing it such that it's issue-free.
Stewy, I never thought you were calling me out! What could you call me out for? I’m not mad at you, by all means I could have conveyed your right to do what you wish for your situation with a little less zest! If you think you understood the failure mechanism of what you saw and you saw it to be a device failure and not installation failure, that’s all that matters to you! We’re good as far as I’m concerned.

LEDs are an odd duck no doubt! I have some in the car, but not a lot! I can’t use them on the turn signals they won’t work! Get this one I have them for interior lights! Two back lights over each rear door two footwell lights & two overhead map lights! These all come on and work fine if I open a door or if I turn the headlight switch to on for the dome light, but if I turn on either one or both of the back lights independently with the switch at each light; the light is real dim and flashes rapidly. The front map lights they work fine either way! Go figure!
