  1. Is it for sale? Black Beauty II? Thanks for sharing buddy.
  2. Well the GMC engine is a stock or a correct stock replacement as GMC put Pontiac V8s in 55-57 trucks. Note the water pump - it gives away the old style reverse coolant flow. The only thing that would have made this even cooler was if it was the very rare Suburban pickup. GMC's version of the Cameo. I'm with Ringo. Any GM engine looks good in a Ford, but especially Pontiacs. Thanks for sharing these photos with us.
  3. There is a difference in columns between automatic and manual shift columns, especially if the manual shifter is on the column vs. the floor. I agree expanding your search out to '64 is a wise move. New 1/4 panel sheet metal is great, but what about inner and outer wheel houses, trunk floor pans, etc.?
  4. Actual #15s are from 1970 big cars. Still you definitely get a smaller combustion chamber at 87ccs vs the 98 or 114 ccs of the 1973 motors.
  5. A 350 block will be stamped 350 or 50 on the block, drivers side above the oil pan. A 400 will be stamped 400 or 00 in the same location. As for your read question, depends on the head. The most desirable flowing heads have a 2.11" intake and 1.77" exhaust valves. Pontiac made several over the years. However a good machine shop can do wonders with more common 1.96/1.66 heads with a port/polish job to make the head flow. What is the two digit/character designation on your heads? Should be between #1 and 3 cylinders.
  6. I would not expect an A-body to fit. Typically a column from the same body size or similar models would fit. So expect a column for a 61 Bonneville, Catalina, Buick Electra, LeSabre, Invicta, Chevy Impala, etc to fit. There are a lot of speciality wrecking yards that you could contact. Since you want to convert your car to automatic you might want to purchase a brand new column from either Flaming River or Ididit. You can add tilt and cruise options, as well as provisions for column vs console shift. Plus it comes with a warranty Any BOP bolt pattern transmission will fit up to a 389. Powerglide, Th350, TH400, or a TH 200 4R (overdrive). With the OD tranny you will have to move the crossmember back a few more inches than stock and install a TV cable. Not sure what you mean about an auto brake setup. Are you thinking of a front disc brake conversion?
  7. That's awesome. I had a '73 LeMans Sport Coupe right out of high school. So I have empathy with you restoring this car. I hope the body is solid since no one re-pops any sheet metal for them. You're best bet is specialty pull / wrecking yards or NOS parts. Power train parts you should be able to mix and match with any Pontiac. A decent stock 4-bbl cast iron manifold should run $50-100 at a local swap meet or eBay or Craigslist. Good luck with your restoration and keep us posted.
  8. The best piece of advise I can give you is to go purchase (either on CD or on paper) is a GM service manual for your year and make of car. It will tell you how to remove and re-install everything on the car with lots of illustrations. http://www.themotorbookstore.com/1969-pontiac-service-manual.html?cmp=googleproducts&kw=1969-pontiac-service-manual&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwObinoLL1QIVQzaBCh2McAmdEAQYAiABEgJqdPD_BwE https://www.amazon.com/PONTIAC-FACTORY-Executive-Firebird-convertibles/dp/B00HR4U2PA Dashes are not hard to remove, but they are time consuming as hell. You have to disconnect the battery, speedometer cable from the speedometer. Remove the A/C Duct work and controls, drop the steering column, remove the steering wheel, the radio, the glove box and the glove box door, ash tray, any dash trim, remove the gauge cluster, disconnect all the wiring and hope you don't break anything along the way. All that so you can get to the 6-8 screws or nuts that retain the dash to the interior of the car. Yeah buddy, lots of fun. Oh and don't loose any screws or nuts along the way either.....baggie everything and mark it with a Sharpie. This is easily an all day job if its just you doing all the work.
  9. Plugs are not factory. I think someone was trying to bypass the fuse for someone reason. Try putting a fuse of the correct amperage into it. Nothing should happen. If it blows, then you definitely have a short in that circuit somewhere. Are you checking and replacing all your factory bulbs since the original bulbs glaze up over time, making them dimmer. Next time I have my dash apart I think I will replace them all with LED bulbs.
  10. Manufacturers made subtle changes over the years of a generational model to help keep them fresh in the public's eye. These changes could be anywhere on the car, including the suspension for new options or the removal of old ones. Again reaching out to Easton Spring should provide you the springs you need for your car.
  11. Yes and no. It will physically bolt on but the 301 is a different size engine than all other mainstream Pontiac motors. It is a one inch smaller deck height, two main weight throws in the crank, and thinner walled bores. Basically Pontiac made the 301 and 265 to save weight. Bottom line it won't not bolt and fit up correctly to the 326-455 engines and heads. You should find a stock or aftermarket intake that fits your application.
  12. Welcome to FP. Nice looking Tempest. It's amazing what a simple bath can do to a car. At this point, I don't see a whole lot of rust or rot - on the outside. I see this is also a post-car and not a coupe. So what have you done so far to get it running and what are your plans for the future.?We don't mind you asking questions, even if, to you, they may seem dumb. This how we all learn. I own a '72 LeMans Sport convertible myself.
  13. I have a lot of friends heading down there this weekend. I wish I could go but I am heading to Hilton Head SC instead. I have not been back there since 2004. I had just grenaded my old original 455 that came with Lucy, so I was on a serious parts hunt back then. I hope everyone that goes has a good time and great weather.
  14. It's amazing to me that this bank is still in business or has any non-commercial customers left. I know they are one of the five largest U.S. banks, but how the stay in business after each and every scandal simply escapes me. You would think with such egregious business practices over such a long period of time that the Federal Reserve, SEC, or the Justice Department would step in and slap them down hard.
  15. Who am I to argue about free swag? I'm in, XXXL please.
  16. I know the feeling. I have a crap load of stuff to do just packing, lawn mowing, and boarding the dog just getting ready to head to Hilton Head.
  17. That's about what I figured. So what are you going to do about the Sierra?
  18. Can you get the proper modules for it or are you better off buying a newer scan tool?
  19. So what's up with him? I texted him a couple of days ago and he seemed under the weather. I am headed back his way in a couple of days - back to Hilton Head. Wondering if I am getting more stump water.
  20. You did a great job - that first photo looks really awesome. I have to admit that I've been to Dealey Plaza once myself back in the '90s. I didn't get the chance to check out the Book Depository though due to time. The Kennedy limo itself is on permanent display at the Henry Ford Museum here in Dearborn Michigan. After the assassination, Ford converted the Lincoln from a convertible to a hardtop. I will look for my pictures of it. Here is the information by the Henry Ford itself on the Kennedy limo. https://www.thehenryford.org/collections-and-research/digital-resources/popular-topics/kennedy-limo/
  21. Anybody heard from GE lately? I think he's fallen off the planet again. Or he's playing with things smarter than him again (which is darn near everything - but especially women).
  22. "Chevrolet SS This one's complicated. Really complicated. The Chevy SS' demise has more to do with parent company General Motors' decision to end manufacturing in Australia than it does to do with weak sales in America. But that's not to say that the enthusiasts who begged for this V-8 muscle sedan exactly lined up to buy it, either." OK GM - when did you actually market the car to the public either - beyond putting stickers on NASCAR Chevys in the SPRINT Cup? I can't recall an actual Chevy commercial for this $48k+ Chevy replacement for the G8. GM has a nasty habit that thinks that certain cars (e.g. muscle / sports cars mainly) should sell themselves with little or no marketing dollars - except when a new re-design is introduced. Pro - being closer to Detroit, I've seen many that are on the list. Still the Lancer is the one that never gained traction not matter what Mitsubishi did - sports car or sedan. It has always been a sales dude here in North America.
  23. Year and body style matter, so please be a little more specific on what you are looking for. Doug's Headers have full size headers up to '68 for the Bonneville, Catalina, and Grand Prix. There are also reproduction factory headers of the RAM AIR IV/HO exhaust manifolds by Ram Air Restoration Enterprises.
