    USPS rant

But hey, it was delivered.....somewhere in North America. Your job. Find it.
  2. Hmmm....I guess NAFTA is working better for Canada that I had originally thought.
  3. Wickliffe Ohio - between Euclid and Wiiloughby Hills off of I-90 - about 17 miles NE of Cleveland.
  4. I am told the ride with the freshman "Princess" went very well. The car was back before just before I got home from work. I have not seen any photographs yet from the homecoming parade. Lucy is now put back into storage. I may have Lucy out on last time to look everything over, otherwise she is put away for her long winter's nap.
  5. I always thought you needed snow tires year round in Canuckistan. Otherwise why do they call it "The Great WHITE North", eh? Hosers.
  6. Last Indian, thanks for the data and the tech. I would plan to completely replace all the brake fluid in the system once I install all new hard lines. Pro - so you gonna' get up bright and early tomorrow and bleed them suckers before the big church meeting? Wife's birthday is sacred. You screw that up, you are sleeping on the sofa for at least a month. Tonight is the big prom ride for Lucy. I hope I get some pictures of it even though I won't be there to see it. I have to pick up the kid from college after work plus the parade starts at the same time I get out of work. Ironically, the homecoming parade is at my old high school and only a mile or two from where I purchased Lucy 22 years ago.

    USPS rant

If the feds privatize or de-regulate the USPS I see several things happen almost all at once: 1. Letter postage would go up dramatically - thus hurting themselves in the long run 2. Pacel post rates / services would have to become competitive with FedEx, UPS, etc. rather quickly or face loosing substantial business. 3. Massive layoffs and a large consolidation of sorting centers and perhaps consolidation//closure of post office branches. 4. Pensions for existing postal workers would either have to be guaranteed by the federal government or they would face getting slashed / eliminated completely / converted to 401(k)/annuities. 5. Postal hours would have to eventually match customer expectations - including weekend hours (Saturday and Sunday).
  8. I've suffered for my music. It was your turn.
  9. Aw hell...what's the fun in that? Have you repaired / bleed the brakes on your GMC yet? Actually my question had more to do with any actual or perceived superiority of the SynPower/Bousch products vs. the rest. Your point is really well taken though.
  10. Greased Lightning, Go Greased Lightning! You are supreme, the chicks'll cream for Greased Lightning!!!!
  11. So as the old expression goes "If you don't like it, don't buy", this clearly applies to you Last Indian (and me). I love your sheep analogy too.
  12. You are right Last Indian, I will replace the entire fluid in the system at that the time I replace the hard lines. Quick question, how well does SynPower or Bosch resist absorbing moisture compared to normal DOT3 or higher standard, off-the-shelf brake fluids? I know most are good for about three years before they absorb enough moisture that warrant the system being flushed. Just curious. Thanks for the tip BTW. I had not heard or read anything about either product before.
  13. How low does she go now? Limbo lower now! Limbo lower now! How low can she go?
  14. Lucy is fixed, I will pick her up tonight. I an concerned about the brake lines and motor mounts most of all. Clearly, I need to bump up my priority to totally replace the hard lines on Lucy now. I've been meaning to do for awhile now, but time and money have been the excuse. I can't afford to delay any further with the brake lines especially. The motor mounts were said to have split. The engine was practically resting on the frame. I am told that the bolts wore the paint off the oil pan on both sides and have caused rust spots in those areas. With the new mounts, the engine is away from the frame. Those are the original motor mounts I got with the car when I bought it 22 years ago. So perhaps they were past due too - especially if they are the original mounts from 45 years ago.
  15. As much as I agree whole heartedly with both Ringo and Last Indian on their principles and such, from a pure advertising perspective, this almost a sure thing. Lebron represents a leader, an athlete, a man who can literally afford what his heart desires and people know that. So making him a front man "must say something about this product or technology". Now that I've taken my marketing hat off, the technology (as Last Indian points out) could be total B.S., but someone might buy it anyway (hey some people bought Yugos didn't they?).
  16. I think this is one of those cases with the uber-low miles, plus the car is a virtue time capsule for restorers since it has never been a part may justify the money. It bears all the original factory markings, tags, etc. It is a desirable 1979 Trans Am (albeit an Olds 403 vs. a Pontiac 400 - but now we are splitting hairs). I find it also interesting that he is a descendant of Henry Leland too.
  17. Contact Ram Air Restoration Enterprises, Inc. http://www.ramairrestoration.com/rm-1-os-d-port-ram-air-style-factory-headers-oversized.html They are the only ones I know that make new, reproduction Pontiac performance exhaust manifolds. Otherwise you would probably need to consider buying headers or getting used manifolds out of a wrecking yard.
  18. Got a call from the shop a few minutes ago. The hydraulics and electrical are fixed along with the brake lines. The motor mounts will be in tomorrow morning. So it should be fixed tomorrow after work. The high heel thing is something I hadn't thought about JUSTA. Good point. Of course Lucy's never had a prom queen in it either before. Trust me, this pains me a bit too. Of course the wife feels I can't leave work early for this - since she is certain I will loose my job over it. Sigh.
  19. The brake line was leaking near the rear diff. It's fixed and the brake fluid has been bleed. They found another problem. Seems my motor mounts are shot. The oil pan is close to resting on the frame. One good bump and I could've rip open the oil pan... The hydraulics should be fixed today or tomorrow. Seems that one of the lines was not tightened enough or got cross threaded (my bad). They think they can fix it with the existing hose.

The problem is this is not a business but rather a federal government agency that is not even a cabinet post anymore. So a business may worry about customer feedback, attitude, etc., government agencies don't have to. They have to fulfill their mission, but that does mean they have to be nice or cheerful to you and me while doing it. I agree its not fair or right, but just think that they have fairly cut throat competition from virtually every commercial carrier and delivery service across the globe. So the worst thing that could happen to the USPS is for the fed's to privatize it.
  21. I commend both of you, Last Indian and Ringo, for the content and direction of this material. As JUSTA said, it is amazing what is not taught these days in driver's education and basic auto mechanics.
  22. Maybe this was Nana's car and she didn't drive it much period.
  23. Lucy is in the shop this morning having the electric switch and the hydraulics looked at and repaired. I have to have it repaired and working reliably before Thursday night. A friend of my wife's is coming over to learn how to drive it on Thursday so it can be driven in my old high school's homecoming parade on Friday. My wife's girlfriend's daughter is in the homecoming court. Her dad will be driving her. So to add insult to injury, just as I pulled Lucy into the driveway last night, the brake light comes! Sigh. So that is being looked at too. I suspect it is low fluid (the reason why is low also weighing the back of my mind).
