  1. For awhile, it was 2 FREE oil changes. Now for 2019, it is NOTHING with the purchase of your NEW vehicle. In ANY business, you always are thinking about HOW can I get CUSTOMERS INTO my store. Whether it is get a FREE anything or whatever, the idea was always to get you thru the door. In the case for offering FREE oil changes, when the car is on the lift, now is the time to CHECK for TIRE WEAR/ ALIGNMENT/ BATTERY/ WIPERS/ CABIN FILTER/ CHECK ENGINE LIGHT/ ETC. Get the picture. It is really STUPID to ignore pushing your customers into a MIDAS i.e., where they get you for EVERY little extra cost NOT included in the regular oil change price, such as the dispose of used oil/ shop towels/ high mileage oil and synthetic oil. 😠

This is my (owner Ed Kozinski) 1994 25th Anniversary Trans Am GT. There were 2,000 produced and ONLY 89 were equipped with the 6 speed Manual plus the CD player and T-Tops. It was also the Pace Car for the 35th Daytona 500. With only 19,750 miles, everything on this model is 100% Original, right down to a new (very rare) set of Goodyear GS-C Radials which I recently purchased.

  3. Glad to be of help. You should bring that Road & Track Issue to your bodyshop and ask them if they are aware of the paint process. You want to show them YOU know what is involved in getting your FORMULA DONE RIGHT. If you can, take pictures of the work. The prep work is where ALL the extra effort to make it look like it just left the factory will show up. Make sure as much of the moldings are removed. If any rubber moldings show signs of DRY ROT, get new ones from Classic Industries. I can't spend your money for you, just my knowledge of Paint Management and what works after 30 years of DETAILING High End cars and my own SHOWCARS. LOL, ED

  4. Thanks for the positive comments.  You have a very RARE Bird and if your looking to keep it for MANY years to come, don't cut corners. You'll need to get an issue from eBay called ROAD &  TRACK GUIDE TO THE ALL-NEW 1993 PONTIAC FIREBIRD. It was a special issue filled with 80 pages to showing how GM changed 90% of the 4th Gen Firebirds. In the TECHNICAL ANALYSIS section, you will get a DETAILED explanation of why they used different plastic materials vs steel and why it's VERY important to use the correct (an expensive) paint mixtures. I don't pretend to be an expert on this procedure, BUT I try to surround myself with professional people in this business. You can read up on  the correct way to make it look factory fresh, there are NO shortcuts. If you don't get the right answers from the body shop owners, then move on. Hope I've been a help, because I've been there, DONE THAT. Just my humble 2 cents and I owned my own detailing business for over 30 years, so hit me up IF you have any more questions. ED

  5. Right now the condition of the FACTORY paint, makes the ENTIRE Formula look like it has been neglected for a LONG time and takes the resale value down the drain. The fact that the paint is peeling all over the car, means you can't just paint over the ORIGINAL finish, because it will just flake off again. The ENTIRE finish has to be removed. Also, you need a Quality Bodyshop  that has worked on these cars before. There are several DIFFERENT PAINT mixtures that need to be applied SEPARATELY! The doors, the front fenders and the front and rear bumpers are made with a different material than steel. The surface qualities of the different materials using a technique known as Distinctiveness of Image, which compares the clarity of the reflection or the visual  depth of the paint. WHEW, that's a lot to understand, but the bottom line is that you cannot just pick up a paint gun and shoot the entire car. ALL of this is EXPENSIVE, but if you want your Bird to look BRAND NEW, it's gonna take time and $$$$$Money.

  6. This is my 1994 25th Anniversary Trans Am GT. There was only 2,000 produced and this is 1 of only 91 with all the factory options including a HURST 6-Speed Manual.. It has 19,750 miles in original showroom condition. These models also had the honor of being the Pace Car for the 35th Daytona 500.

  7. Looking forward to some NEW RULE changes on the 2018 issue. I think having a separate GTO voting class will help getting some different Pontiacs into the mix, without the same GTO's always in. There are some awesome Goats in here, but it usually always kicks ANY other models out in whatever class they are entered in. Just my 2 cents. Also I think that the quality of the photos should be considered, as many members just don't take the time to figure out a really good background in their photo.

  8. Congrats on the win. I have a framed 8" x 10" picture of my favorite GTO. I bought it new in 1967 and it was a Bright Red with a White vinyl top and a White bucket seat Interior. The wheels were the Rally II and it had the 360 H.O. motor with a 4 speed and 3:90 posi rear. If anybody can remember these tires, they were made by Elimanator and had a Red and a White stripe sidewall. These where street tires, but with a super soft compound and lasted about 10,000 miles (due to LOTS of burnouts). Throw in the wood steering wheel and shifter plus P/S and Brakes, a Reverb rear speaker with an AM radio (there were about 7 stations playing Rock and Roll). Of course back then, it stayed STOCK for about 1 week before headers were added with the Qjet reworked along with the distrubter and a Competition cam. :dancingpontiac:

  9. Congrats to a hard to find good looking RARE Tempest ! It is sad though, that only 2-3 cars take the time to enter this contest. There MUST be a decent amount of owners who love their PONTIAC and would like to show it off. Sadly I see less that still want to show their Firebirds and G6's-Bonnevilles-Grand Am's etc., at car shows. Really nice examples of the brand are out there, but where is the enthusiam to show what a fantastic brand this once was. Just look at the other side of the coin, and go to a show and look at all the Camaros and Chevy products that are on display. I get a ton of people that come up to my 3rd Gen and say "I remember these models, but they have all dissapeared the last several years".

  10. congrats to 91Firebird, you are 2015s first SE winner!

Thanks very much to all who voted. My Formula sits in the garage from November until the salt and snow clears, and with the UNREAL amount of COLD weather and snow we have had here in Central, New Jersey (with single degree temps still here) looking forward to getting out of the cabin fever and back into show circuit. It's also good to see that the 3rd Gen models are finally coming up in value as there are not many left that haven't been destroyed or left to rot somewhere. I go to car shows now and find out that I am the only 3rd Gen there. So if you have a decent Bird, start to bring it back to looking good and enjoy the people that say "Hey, I had one of those, but you don't see them on the road anymore". :dancingpontiac:

  11. This is my 1991 Firebird Formula Showcar with the L98 350 Option of which only 1,197 were built. HPP magazine did a 6 page article on it back in October, 2012. It is loaded with all the SLP options that were offered and also runs in the 1/4 mile (best of 13.79 @ 100 mph). This car was also voted POTM in the last of that series. It still has the original finish Bright Red Code 81. It now has have 61,000 miles.post-1351-0-79105400-1413654281_thumb.jp

  12. This is my 1991 Formula 350 that has been my Show Car for the 15 years. It has been featured in the October, 2012 issue of High Performance Pontiac. These 3rd Gens are getting few and far between (really nice ones) due to the fact that most of them were trashed because they were cheap to buy and easy to wreck. :dancingpontiac:

  13. nicest car in this FP.com my opinion. i had my 89 GTA the same way............oh how i miss her.

Thanks for the comment. The longer I have this model, the more I appreciate the styling. It was only a 2 year run (for the Banshee look) but it still has a slick shape. Of course I am prejudice, but at shows it is getting a lot of looks due to the act that most of Formulas have been beaten to death or wrapped around a tree. If you would like to see the entire article from HPP magazine (October 2012), it now comes up on their website.

  14. This is my 1991 Firebird Formula 350. I bought it in 1993 from the original owner and it was my DD for 3 years until it snowed so bad here, I could not get out of my driveway. Until recently, 3rd Gens were quite plentiful, but in the last few years, very few survived in decent shape. Everything I have added is bolted on to improve the handling and engine performance. The engine got a boast from SLP parts, such as the runners, the CAI box, the prom chip, underdrive pulley, 3:73 gears and the air foil. From Edlebrock, I got coated headers, the intake manifold and LCA and Panhard bar. For the handling I used Hotchkis strut tower bar and an IROC Wonderbar. I had a set of Alston sub frame connectors welded in and from BORLA, it has a 3" polished exhaust with dual dual tips. The diamond spoke Black wheels were a no cost option and weigh only 16 lbs each. The paint is still stock original (code #81) and the rear tail lamps are from a 1991 GTA, and the 3rd brake lite has LED's that spell out 350. Just recently the car was featured in a 6 page article in the October 2012 issue of High Performance Pontiac magazine. The interior features faux carbon fiber accents on the dash, the console and the door panels. Performance has gone from 14.9 @ 93 mph stock to 13.8 @ 100 mph. Thanks for checking out my blog.

  15. This is my 1991 Formula 350 Show Car. There were only 1,198 made with the L98 350 Performance Package. It was recently featured in the October, 2012 issue of High Performance Pontiac magazine with a 6 page article that shows all the BOLT-ON performance items that were added to the car. I used parts from SLP-Edlebrock-Hotchkis-Borla-MSD and more to improve the power and the suspension. It is mainly a show car, but I have raced the car at Englishtown Raceway Park, New Jersey, where it has won the P4 class 3 out of the last 5 years. Currently the Formula has run a best of 13.79 @ 100 mph in the 1/4 mile.

I would like to enter the Pontiac of the Month with photos I had taken during the last year.
