• Description This is my 1991 Pontiac Trans Am GTA. It was a factory L98 350/4L60 car.
I brought the car home in early December of 2009 and paid $2,600 for it from a woman in the Zanesville, Ohio area. It was completely stock (even the stereo!) when I got it and very well cared for and that is the whole reason I wanted it beside the fact it was a STEAL of a price if you look around at GTA's in this condition and see what they go for.
This is the second GTA I have owned because after the first one, I just HAD to have another one. I wanted this particular one mainly so I could do all of the work on it myself and know what has been done which is why I wanted a rust free and totally stock car to start off with. Plus, I know it will be around forever because it has very little rust (none of it on the body) and it surely will not get any more with me owning it because it NEVER sees rain, snow or salt.
According to www.gtasourcepage.com, it is 1 of 446 black exterior and 1 of 219 with medium dark gray cloth interior built for that year in the GTA line. According to www.compnine.com, this GTA is 1 of 3 built similarly optioned for the whole Firebird lineup in 1991 which is 47,000+ cars.
I plan to leave the body and interior completely alone with the exception of some freshening up, but the engine and drivetrain and everything else will slowly but surely be modded for more performance.
It now has a balanced and blueprinted 355 I built for it with Eagle crank & lightweight rods, speed pro 10.5:1 pistons with moly rings, ZZ4 cam, ported and polished ZZ4 heads with LT4 valve springs and retainers, comp cam 1.52/1.6 split ratio full roller rockers, complete Accel SuperRam intake w/ Ram Air, 36lbs injectors, SLP 1.75 non emissions headers and Y pipe, EGR/AIR/Cat deleted, and a tune by PCM of NC. Transmission now has a 2500 stall Converter, Corvette Servos, B&M shift kit, external filter, and 24000 GVW cooler with temp gauge. Rear diff is from 2002 Camaro SS with 3.42 gears. drilled rotors and ceramic pads in front, 12 inch rotors in rear. Too many other mods to list!
