2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R

-

With its big fenders and crazy aerodynamics, the ultra-hardcore Mercedes-AMG GT R is one of most cartoonish looking cars we’ve ever seen. That makes it perfect to appear in a Transformers movie. Apparently director Michael Bay agrees, too, since he’s just announced that a GT R will play (?) the role of Drift, previously portrayed by a Bugatti Veyron, in the fifth installment of the rebooted series, Transformers: The Last Knight.
-After showing off the new Bumblebee Camaro and evil Barricade Mustang last month, Bay tweeted out the new GT R earlier this week. The Transformers movies are defined by the star cars, which in the recent movies have been cast as American muscle cars, so it’s cool to see one of Europe’s finest join the mix for The Last Knight.

We’ll have to wait until next June to see how the GT R fares in robot warfare, but in the real world, it’s the real deal. It’s got 577 horsepower from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8, active aerodynamics, and four-wheel-steering to help it dominate all racetracks—all capabilities the Autobots are sure to take advantage of.
