Spark plugs for 1970 Lemans Sport?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be installing a new HEI and wires, suggestions please for what plugs and gap to use? Motor is a factory 400/4 barrel. Thanks in advance.

I am biased and I admit it since I use to work for AC Spark Plug Division when I first starting working back in 1983. I run AC Spark Plugs R45TS (these are non-platinum / standard core plugs). Of course you can run a platinum or iriduim tip if you'd like, just costs more money. A lot of folks run NGKs as well. Champion CPN-25, E3-52s, Autolite ATL-86 will also work. Still I prefer the OEM plugs, which are AC Delco. As I said, I am bias.

Gap for a Pontiac 400 with an HEI distributor is .045. Gap for a Pontiac with non-HEI is .035.
