Description

The heater/AC fan on my 1973 LeMans only functions on the lower three settings.  When you move it to the top setting, it shuts off.  I'm pretty sure I need a different blower motor resistor.  The one that is in there has purposely had one of the connection prongs bent away from the plug so it doesn't connect.  When I bend it back so it connects, the fan doesn't work at all!  So I think someone has jury-rigged the wrong blower motor resistor to make the fan partially work.

Lots of BMRs available up to 1972, but for some reason it's hard to find one for a 1973.

Let me know if you have one you'd like to sell.

Thanks,

Gary

Nope. The top setting doesn't go through the resistor at all. Check your ground at the motor.  Yes, the top setting grounds uniquely from the rest.

There is a separate inline fuse for the blower motor high setting...Located on the firewall under the hood somewhere. Near the center between the wiper motor and the blower motor in that area...Can be hard to spot..May be bundled in with other wires...But it is there....When the motor shuts off on the high setting..More the likely that fuse is blown..It is a regular round glass buss type fuse inside of an inline plastic fuse holder....
